The Hummingbird Tree is a film directed by Noella Smith and starring Patrick Bergin, Niall Buggy, Desha Penco and Sunil Ramjitsingh. It was filmed in Trinidad and Tobago in 1992 by the BBC. The script of the movie, by Jonathan Falla, was based on the book The Hummingbird Tree, written by Ian McDonald and first published by Heinemann in 1969. The book was republished by Macmillan Publishers in 2004.

A similar name for the group Daedalornithes has been used for the owlet-night-apodiform clade, there is a difference between the two names with Apodimorphae defined as the total-group and Daedalornithes defined as the crown group.

Cattleya Orchid and Three Hummingbirds (1871) is an oil-on-mahogany-panel painting by Martin Johnson Heade acquired by the National Gallery of Art in 1982. Inspired perhaps by the works of Charles Darwin and Frederic Edwin Church, Heade planned to produce a deluxe book in the 1860s depicting Brazilian hummingbirds in tropical settings, and, to that end, created a series of 40 small pictures called The Gems of Brazil. The project was abandoned, but Heade retained his interest in hummingbirds and continued to paint them in combination with orchids and jungle backgrounds through the 1870s. The NGA describes the work: "Lichen covers dead branches; moss drips from trees; and, a blue-gray mist veils the distant jungle. An opulent pink orchid with light-green stems and pods dominates the left foreground." On the right, two green-and-pink Brazilian Amethysts hover about a nest while a red-tailed Sappho Comet perches nearby.

Kim Bora is a South Korean filmmaker. Her short film, The Recorder Exam won numerous awards including the Best Student Filmmaker Award from The Directors Guild of America. The film was also a National Finalist for the 2012 Student Academy Awards. Kim’s debut feature House of Hummingbird received production support from the Korean Film Council, Seoul Film Commission and Asian Cinema Fund of Busan International Film Festival. The film received post-production support from the Sundance Institute’s Feature Film Program and was selected as an IFP Narrative Lab Fellow. It premiered at the Busan International Film Festival, where it won the NETPAC award and the KNN Audience award. The film went on to collect 59 awards from prestigious festivals, including Berlinale, Tribeca, BFI London, Istanbul, Jerusalem, and a Blue Dragon award—Korea’s equivalent of an Oscar.
