Located in Buckhead, Atlanta, Tongue & Groove is the longest running nightclub and lounge in Atlanta. [1] Originally opened at Buckhead Village in 1994, the nightclub relocated in 2007 to its current Buckhead location, just off of Piedmont Road. The venue regularly hosts events and features musical guests from around the world. It is owned and operated by Michael Krohngold, Scott Strumlauf, and David Kreidler. It has been featured in The New York Times , USA Today and Atlanta Magazine . It was also featured on TMZ and E! Entertainment News. [2]

History and renovation

Located in the former Buckhead Village, the original Tongue & Groove was opened by Marc Cooperman, Michael Krohngold and Scott Strumlauf in 1994 and was named Best New Nightclub by Atlanta Magazine . [3] The nightclub was displaced by developers in July 2007 and reopened in 2008 at its current location just off Piedmont Road in Buckhead. The new, 8,600 square-foot Tongue & Groove is an updated and a larger version of the original, again with two rooms for creating two distinctly different environments. [4] In 2012, The Joint was debuted as a redesign of the club’s second room. The 1,500 square-foot space allows for an alternative music format and is frequently used to host private events. [5]

Notable guest appearances

Catering to an upscale crowd that enjoys fashion, music, art and nightlife, Tongue & Groove has welcomed numerous non-paid celebrity guests since opening in 1994. Some of the most notable appearances include club-regular and music producer Dallas Austin hosting friends Madonna, Naomi Campbell, Denzel Washington, Quincy Jones, Wesley Snipes, and Ashlee Simpson and her fiancé Evan Ross [6] on various nights; Mick Jagger (1998); [7] Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri (2006); Tiger Woods (2000); Kid Rock (2011); Sean “P. Diddy” Combs (2013); Justin Bieber (2014). [8]

Buckhead Village District

Buckhead Village District is a 9-acre (3.6 ha) planned mixed-use development in the Buckhead district in Atlanta, Georgia. The project is a redevelopment of part of the Buckhead Village neighborhood bounded by Peachtree Rd., E. Paces Ferry Rd., Pharr Rd., and N. Fulton Drive. It is located just 1.3 miles (2.1 km) from two of the region's most prominent and upscale malls, Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza.

Paces is a neighborhood of Atlanta. It is part of the Buckhead district and located in the far northwest corner of the city. Paces is bounded on the northwest by the Chattahoochee River, which is also the Cobb/Fulton county line. Just across the river in Cobb is the unincorporated community of Vinings, which was originally known as Paces after founder Hardy Pace, who operated Pace's Ferry. Cumberland is also located on the other side of the river. It is perhaps Atlanta's most affluent neighborhood, with many of the homes selling in the $5–$7 million range, and some reaching upwards of $20 million.

Johnsontown (Atlanta)

Johnsontown was a settlement in what is now the Buckhead Community of Atlanta, Georgia which was located on the present site of the Lenox MARTA station. It was settled by African Americans in 1912. Until 1982 approximately thirty families lived here on 23-foot (7.0 m) by 143-foot (44 m) lots, until the land was acquired to build the rapid transit station.

The Atlanta Financial Center is situated next to MARTA's Red Line Buckhead station; the Red Line runs directly underneath the complex.

OK Cafe, founded in 1987, is a restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia, that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. The restaurant, known for its Southern comfort food, has been featured in Forbes, Southern Living, and Ladies Home Journal. In a review of OK Cafe, Atlanta Intown wrote "time stands still at the OK Cafe. It’s predictable, delivering all the comfort foods of Southern living that this restaurant has perfected over its very many years as an Atlanta landmark."
