The President's Home at the University of North Alabama serves as the official residence of the university president.
Constructed by the Works Projects Administration and completed in 1940, the residence is currently occupied by President and Mrs. Kenneth D. Kitts. [1]
Plans for the home were drawn by Warren, Knight, and Davis Architects of Birmingham, Alabama in May, 1939. The home was completed in January, 1940.
Patterned after English and American Colonial structures, the residence is located on the historic site of the James Sample Brickyard, one of the earliest industries established in Florence, Alabama, which was founded in 1818. Most of the bricks used in the construction of Florence's oldest homes were manufactured at this site.
The residence was first occupied by Dr. James Albert Keller, president of what was then known as Florence State Teachers College, followed by Dr. and Mrs. Ethelbert Brinkley "E.B." Norton in 1948, and by Dr. and Mrs. Robert M. Guillot in 1972.
Following Guillot's departure in 1990, the home served as a guest house for President Robert Potts and as a center for official presidential functions.
Under the supervision of presidential assistant Brenda Baker and Trustee Emeritus Brenda Morrow, the residence underwent a complete refurbishing beginning in December, 2004, shortly before the arrival of President and Mrs. Cale. Furnishing was provided by local retail outlets in the Shoals area.
The parlor renovation was undertaken by Story and Lee Furniture of Leoma, Tennessee. Karla Weathers, the company's interior designer, assisted with the redesign of much of the rest of the main floor.
More recently, Mrs. B.J. Cale, a master gardener, also has worked closely with grounds personnel to supervise enhancement of the lawn and garden. [2]
The residence is located next to the George H. Carroll Lion Habitat, home of Leo III and Una, the university's live lion mascots. Overnight guests often are awakened by the lions' roaring. [1]

The University of North Alabama (UNA) is a public university in Florence, Alabama. It is the state's oldest public university. Occupying a 130-acre (0.5 km2) campus in a residential section of Florence, UNA is located within a four-city area that also includes Tuscumbia, Sheffield and Muscle Shoals. The four cities compose a metropolitan area with a combined population of 140,000 people.
The Florence-Muscle Shoals Metropolitan Area, commonly known as The Shoals, is a metropolitan statistical area in northwestern Alabama including the cities of Florence, Muscle Shoals, Tuscumbia, and Sheffield, and the counties of Lauderdale and Colbert. The population is around 200,000 and an additional 410,000 commute to the Shoals daily for work, school, shopping, and more according to a recent Shoals publication called "Four Cities, Four Cultures". It has also been known as the Tri-Cities and the Quad-Cities by locals.

The Marching Pride of North Alabama, is the official marching band of the University of North Alabama. The band is the largest organization on campus, and performs at all North Alabama Lions football home games, as well as local parades and high school competition exhibitions across the state.

The North Alabama Lions football program represents the University of North Alabama (UNA) in the NCAA Division I Big South Conference, an Atlantic Sun-affiliated football conference. UNA plays its home games at Braly Municipal Stadium in Florence, Alabama. They are currently coached by Chris Willis. UNA was a member of Division II from 1972 to 2017.
The North Alabama Lions men's basketball team represents University of North Alabama in Florence, Alabama, United States. The school's team currently competes in the ASUN Conference. On July 1, 2018 they joined the ASUN Conference in all sports, excluding men's football which will compete in the Big South.
The University of North Alabama women's volleyball program is one of the most successful collegiate athletic programs in the United States, holding numerous conference and regional titles and one Division II national championship, earned in 2003.

Rogers Hall, also known as Courtview, is a three-story antebellum house at 500 Court Street in Florence, Alabama. It was built from 1854 to 1855. It is one of the oldest historic landmarks on the University of North Alabama campus and one of the university's most distinctive structures. The building was recorded by the Historic American Buildings Survey from 1934–35. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 13, 1974.
Coby Hall is an antebellum Georgian Revival former residence in Florence, Alabama, that now serves as a learning and cultural center for the University of North Alabama.
The George H. Carroll Lion Habitat is a 12,764-square-foot (1,185.8 m2), climate-controlled facility located on the campus the University of North Alabama that houses the only live lion mascot in the United States, Leo III. The lion habitat, which was dedicated on October 7, 2007, bears the name of the late owner of the construction firm Pressure Concrete, which built the facility and donated labor, materials and funds. No federal or state dollars or tuition fees were used in construction of the habitat.
The North Alabama Lions are the athletic teams of the University of North Alabama, located in Florence, Alabama. The Lions are a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I and compete within the ASUN Conference. In the sport of football, the Lions will compete at the Division I FCS ranks in the Big South Conference. The University has a total of 14 varsity sports teams, six men's teams and eight women's teams. The fall of 2018 marked the Lions first year of their transition into Division I. They have a storied tradition in Division II and have earned numerous national titles competing in NCAA Division II's Gulf South Conference.

The North Alabama–West Alabama football rivalry is a college football rivalry game between two public universities in the U.S. state of Alabama, the University of North Alabama Lions and the University of West Alabama Tigers. The current winner is West Alabama, who won 38–17, on September 23, 2017. North Alabama leads the all-time series, 52–18–1.

Wendell Wilkie Gunn is a retired corporate executive, a former Reagan Administration official, and the first African American student to enroll and graduate from the University of North Alabama in 1965 in Florence, Alabama.
The 1993 North Alabama Lions football team represented the University of North Alabama during the 1993 NCAA Division II football season, and completed the 61st season of Lions football. The Lions played their home games at Braly Municipal Stadium in Florence Alabama. The 1993 team came off an 8–4–1 record and a quarterfinal loss from the previous season. The team was led by coach Bobby Wallace. The team finished the regular season with an undefeated 10–0 record and made the NCAA Division II playoffs. The Lions defeated the IUP Crimson Hawk 41–34 in the National Championship Game en route to the program's first NCAA Division II Football Championship.
The 2018–19 North Alabama Lions women's basketball team represented University of North Alabama during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. They were led by head coach Missy Tiber in her sixth season at North Alabama. The Lions played their home games at the Flowers Hall in Florence, Alabama as members of the Atlantic Sun Conference.
