The Big Sky Conference is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with the NCAA's Division I with football competing in the Football Championship Subdivision. As of 2023, full member institutions are located in the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. Two affiliate members from California are football–only participants.

The Wildcats were led by fourth year head coach Bethann Ord and played their home games at the Dee Events Center as members of the Big Sky Conference. They finished the season 23–12, 11–7 in Big Sky play to finish sixth place. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the Big Sky women's tournament where they lost to Idaho. They were invited to the Women's Basketball Invitational where they defeated New Mexico in the first round, Weber State in the quarterfinals, USC Upstate before losing to Louisiana–Lafayette in the championship game.
The Northwestern Wildcats women's basketball team is the intercollegiate women's basketball program representing Northwestern University. The school competes in the Big Ten Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Wildcats play home basketball games at Welsh-Ryan Arena on the university campus in Evanston, Illinois, but played the 2017–18 season at Beardsley Gym on the nearby campus of Evanston Township High School during renovations to Welsh–Ryan Arena.

Basketball is one of eleven women's sports at the University of Arizona. The team is a Division I member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Pac-12 athletic conference. The team's home venue is the McKale Center, which seats 14,545 fans. The official team colors are cardinal red and navy blue. The Wildcats have qualified for eight NCAA Tournaments. On August 4, 2023, Arizona announced it would join the Big 12 Conference along with Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah beginning in the 2024-25 academic year.

They finished the season 21–10, 11–7 in Big Sky play to finish in a tie for third place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky women's tournament to Idaho State. They were invited to the WBI where they defeated Texas Southern in the first round before losing to Central Arkansas in the quarterfinals.

Members of the Big Sky Conference, the Wildcats were led by third-year head coach Gene Visscher and played their home games on campus at Wildcat Gym in Ogden, Utah. They were 14–12 overall and 8–6 in conference play.
