William J. "Bill" Callahan is the Deputy Director of the United States Secret Service. He served as the Acting Director from March 4, 2017 until April 25, 2017. [1]

United States Secret Service U.S. federal law enforcement agency

The United States Secret Service is a federal law enforcement agency under the Department of Homeland Security charged with conducting criminal investigations and protecting the nation's leaders. Until 2003, the Secret Service was part of the Department of the Treasury, as the agency was originally founded to combat the then-widespread counterfeiting of US currency.

Secret Service career

He began his career in the United States Secret Service in 1991 as a Special Agent assigned to the New York Field Office. He has since served in a variety of management level assignments which include: Assistant Director of Protective Operations; Deputy Assistant Director of Investigations; Deputy Assistant Director of Administration; Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Field Office; Assistant Inspector within the Inspection Division; Assistant to the Special Agent in Charge (ATSAIC) of the Presidential Protective Division; and ATSAIC for the Office of Homeland Security. In April 2011, Mr. Callahan was selected for the Senior Executive Service. [2]

Callahan holds a Master of Science degree in Education from Johns Hopkins University and an undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Arts and Science from Manhattan College. [2]

Bachelor of Arts and Science is an undergraduate bachelor's degree conferred by a small number of American universities and a fair number of universities in other English-speaking countries. Generally, to receive a B.A.S. degree, a student would need to complete the general requirements for a bachelor's degree and also the requirements for two different academic majors — one that usually leads to a B.A. degree and one that usually leads to a B.S. degree. In the United States, the degree is meant to be a four-year degree, but many students will take five years to complete the program.

Manhattan College

Manhattan College is a private, Roman Catholic, liberal arts college in the Bronx in New York City. After originally being established in 1853 by the Brothers of the Christian Schools as an academy for day students, Manhattan College was officially incorporated as an institution of higher education through a charter granted by the New York State Board of Regents. In 1922, the College moved from Manhattan to the Riverdale section of the Bronx, roughly 6.4 miles (10.3 km) north of its original location on 131st Street in the Manhattanville section of Manhattan. Manhattan College offers undergraduate programs in the arts, business, education, health, engineering, and science. Graduate programs are offered for education, business, and engineering.
