Årland is a village in Samnanger municipality in Hordaland county, Norway. The village is located on the northeastern shore of the Samnangerfjorden, west of the village of Haga. It sits along Norwegian County Road 7, which runs from the city of Bergen to Samnanger. Samnanger Church is located in this village. The newspaper Samningen has been published in Årland since 1977. Samnanger is a municipality in the Midhordland region of Hordaland county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Tysse. Other main villages in the municipality include Haga and Bjørkheim in Nordbygda. The municipality is located about 20 kilometres (12 mi) east of the city of Bergen, Norway's second largest city. It surrounds the inner part of the Samnangerfjorden and the surrounding valleys. There are mountains that surround the municipality. The development of hydroelectric power plants started here in 1909.

Samnangerfjorden

Samnangerfjorden is a fjord in Hordaland county, Norway. The 22-kilometre (14 mi) long fjord is located in the municipalities of Fusa and Samnanger. The head of the fjord is located in Samnanger, surrounded by the villages of Årland, Haga, and Tysse. The fjord flows to the southwest from there and eventually flows into the Fusafjorden. The fjord forms the southern boundary of the Bergen Peninsula.

Haga is a village in Samnanger municipality in Hordaland county, Norway. The village is located the northeastern end of the Samnangerfjorden. It is located east of the village of Årland, across the fjord. The municipal centre of Tysse lies immediately south of Haga, and it is considered part of the "urban area" of Haga. The 0.89-square-kilometre (220-acre) village area of Haga is the largest in the municipality and it has a population (2013) of 1083, giving it a population density of 1,217 inhabitants per square kilometre (3,150/sq mi). Haga Church was built in the centre of the village in 1995.

The church is part of the Samnanger parish in the Hardanger og Voss deanery in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, wooden church was built in 1995 by the architect Helge Hjertholm. The church was consecrated on 5 February 1995. The church has a fan-shaped sanctuary that seats about 230 people.
