The Regina Rams represent the University of Regina, located in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, in U Sports football played under Canadian rules. The Rams nickname is used by the university's football team only; all other teams at the school are named Regina Cougars. The Rams joined U Sports in 1999 and have competed in the Canada West Conference since then.

The Hardy Trophy is a Canadian sport trophy, presented annually to the winner of the Canada West Universities Athletic Association Football Conference of U Sports, the country's governing body for university athletics. It is named for Evan Hardy, the former head of the agricultural engineering department at the University of Saskatchewan, who had played for the Huskies for its first five years before a rule that only students could play. Hardy continued on as coach and created a western university league. The original trophy was replaced in 1997 after it fell apart during an on-field celebration of the Huskies win in 1996 at home at Griffiths Stadium. The original Hardy trophy still resides at the University of Saskatchewan, having been forgotten until it was unearthed beneath a pile of storage boxes in 2008.

The current stadium was opened on June 23, 1967 to host the Saskatchewan Huskies football team. There was previously a Griffiths Stadium 200 metres to the east of the current location from October 3, 1936 until the new site was opened.

Brian Towriss is the former head coach for the University of Saskatchewan's football team, the Saskatchewan Huskies. Towriss became Saskatchewan's head coach in 1984 and became CIS football's winningest head coach in 2011, surpassing Larry Haylor with his 170th overall win. He resigned as head coach on December 19, 2016 with a U Sports football record 196 wins and 315 games coached. He also holds the record for most appearances as a head coach in the Vanier Cup with nine, having won three of those in 1990, 1996, 1998. Collegiately, he also played CIS football for the Saskatchewan Huskies. He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2017 as a builder.

Scott Redl is a former Canadian football offensive lineman who played seven seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders as a territorial exemption in the 1983 CFL Draft. He played CIS football at the University of Saskatchewan and attended Evan Hardy Collegiate in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Redl was also a member of the BC Lions. He is the younger brother of fellow CFL player Doug Redl.
The Laval Rouge et Or football team represents Laval University in Quebec City in the sport of Canadian football in U Sports. The program began its first regular season in 1996 and has quickly become one of the most successful programs in Canadian collegiate football history. The Rouge et Or have won a record ten Vanier Cup championships and their most recent victory occurred at the 54th Vanier Cup in 2018. They are also the only program to have played in four straight Vanier Cups and have a record of 10–2 in Vanier Cup games. The Rouge et Or have also won the Dunsmore Cup 15 times since 1999, demonstrating their historical dominance in their conference.
