The men's road race at the 1931 UCI Road World Championships was the fifth edition of the event. The race was held as an individual time trial rather than a mass start. The championship took place on Wednesday 26 August 1931 in Copenhagen, Denmark. [1] The race was won by Learco Guerra of Italy.
The professional riders had to cover a distance of 170 kilometres, on the Copenhagen-Ringsted-Bårse-Kuge-Copenhagen route. They started every five minutes. Of the 17 riders who started, 13 finished the race. Italy's Learco Guerra won in 4 h 53 min 43 s, more than four minutes ahead of Ferdinand Le Drogo of France and Swiss cyclist Albert Büchi. [2]

Alfredo Binda was an Italian road cyclist of the 1920s and 1930s. He was the first to win five editions of the Giro d'Italia, and a three-time world champion. In addition he won Milan–San Remo twice, and the Tour of Lombardy four times.
The Giro d'Italia is an annual multiple-stage bicycle race primarily held in Italy, while also starting in, or passing through, other countries. The first race was organized in 1909 to increase sales of the newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, and the race is still run by a subsidiary of that paper's owner. The race has been held annually since its first edition in 1909, except during the two world wars. As the Giro gained prominence and popularity, the race was lengthened, and the peloton expanded from primarily Italian participation to riders from all over the world. Learco Guerra was an Italian professional road racing cyclist. The highlight of his career was his overall win in the 1934 Giro d'Italia. He was born in San Nicolò Po, a frazione of Bagnolo San Vito in Lombardy, gained the nickname of "Human Locomotive" for his enduring quality in plain stages. After mediocre attempts to play football, Guerra became a professional cyclist in 1928, at 26. The following year he became Italian champion, racing as an independent or semi-professional.
Nicole Denise Cooke, MBE is a Welsh former professional road bicycle racer and Commonwealth, Olympic and World road race champion. At Beijing in 2008 she became the first British woman to win a Gold Olympic medal in any cycling discipline. Cooke announced her retirement from the sport on 14 January 2013 at the age of 29.
The Bretagne Classic, also called Bretagne Classic Ouest-France, is an elite cycling classic held annually in late summer around the Breton village of Plouay in western France.

The 1934 Giro d'Italia was the 22nd edition of the Giro d'Italia, organized and sponsored by the newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport. The race began on 19 May in Milan with a stage that stretched 169.2 km (105 mi) to Turin, finishing back in Milan on 10 June after a 315 km (196 mi) stage and a total distance covered of 3,712.7 km (2,307 mi). The race was won by the Learco Guerra of the Maino team. Second and third respectively were the Italian riders Francesco Camusso and Giovanni Cazzulani.

Tadej Pogačar is a Slovenian professional cyclist who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam UAE Team Emirates. He won the 2020 and 2021 editions of the Tour de France, winning three different jerseys during each Tour, a feat unseen in nearly four decades. He won the 2024 edition of the Giro d'Italia, winning also the mountains classification and six stages. Comfortable in time-trialing, one-day classic riding and grand-tour climbing, he has been compared to legendary all-round cyclists such as Eddy Merckx and Bernard Hinault.

It was won by the Italian Learco Guerra, reached the finish line with the time of 7h34 ' 00 "at an average of 32.378 km/h, preceding the countrymen Mario Cipriani and Domenico Piemontesi.
