Riverside International Raceway was a motorsports race track and road course in the Moreno Valley area, a suburb just east of Riverside, California. Riverside was a hot, dusty place. It was at times, also a dangerous place, yet it is remembered with affection by drivers and fans alike, as the home of road racing in southern California. It was also considered one of USA's finest tracks.The track was in operation from September 22, 1957, to July 2, 1989, with the last race, The Budweiser 400, won by Rusty Wallace, held in 1988. After that final race, a shortened version of the circuit was kept open for car clubs and special events until 1989.

The car is based on the C5 generation of the Chevrolet Corvette sports car, yet is designed purely for motorsports use. Richard Knight (Dick) Thompson, Jr. was an American racecar driver. A Washington, D.C. dentist by trade, he is known as "The Flying Dentist". He won numerous Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) championships and was inducted in the Corvette Hall of Fame. Thompson brought credibility to the Corvette as a world-class sports car. Active from the late 1950s until the 1970s, Thompson raced for several notable racers, including the factory Corvette team for John Fitch and Briggs Cunningham.
Palm Beach International Raceway is a motorsports facility located west of Jupiter, Florida. The state-of-the-art facility boasts a quarter-mile drag strip, a 2-mile road course, 7/10-mile kart track as well as mud racing tracks. The road course at Palm Beach International Raceway is a 2-mile, 10-turn circuit. The track was constructed of hot-mix asphalt and set on an aggregate base. It is 40-feet wide with a 1/3-mile section measuring 80-feet.

The Chevrolet Corvette C7.R is a grand tourer racing car built by Pratt & Miller and Chevrolet for competition in endurance racing. It is a replacement for the Corvette C6.R racing car, using the C7 generation Chevrolet Corvette as a base. The C7 road car was noted to incorporate development from the Corvette C6.R, thus those properties also carry over to the race car. The Corvette Racing C7.R races in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class.
