The 1998 French Open also known as the 1998 Open de France du Jeu de Paume was the 18th edition of the real tennis French Open. The men's draw was held at the Jeu de Paume de Bordeaux between September 23-27, while the women's draw was held at the same venue between October 1-4. It was organised by the Comité Français de Courte-Paume. The men's draw was the third grand slam event of the year.

The men's singles draw was won by incumbent World Champion Robert Fahey, his second French Open victory having previously won in 1993. He defeated former World Champion Wayne Davies in the final. [1] The men's doubles draw was won by Ruaraidh Gunn and Steve Virgona. It was their third Open victory as a pair, and following their win they would hold three of the four open titles. The women's singles was also won by incumbent World Champion Penny Lumley, defeating Alex Garside. [2] The two together also won the doubles draw, after Fiona Deuchar and Charlotte Cornwallis retired in the final with the score at 5-all.
