The 2005 FIBA Africa Basketball Club Championship, was an international basketball tournament held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, from December 13 to 22, 2007. The tournament, organized by FIBA Africa and hosted by Abidjan Basket Club, was contested by 7 teams in a preliminary round robin system followed by a knockout stage by the top four teams.
The 2014 FIBA Under-17 World Championship was an international basketball competition held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 8–16 August 2014. It was the third edition of the FIBA Under-17 World Cup. Sixteen national teams competed in the tournament as opposed to last edition of the tournament, where twelve national teams competed. The preliminary round action takes place in Al-Ahli Arena and Al-Wasl Arena, with the Hamdan Sports Complex hosting the final round. This was the first time for the FIBA Under-17 World Cup to be held outside Europe.

The tournament was held from 12 to 22 July 2007 in Algiers, Algeria, contested by 11 national teams and won by Angola, who defeated Egypt 56–50 in the final to win their third title.

The Basketball Africa League (BAL) is Africa's premier men's basketball league scheduled to begin play in October 2019. The league consists of twelve teams, each qualified through their domestic competition, to similar to the formats of the UEFA Champions League and Africa Basketball League. The league is a joint effort between the National Basketball Association (NBA) and FIBA with sponsorship from the Jordan Brand and Pepsi.
