Kiso District, Nagano held a mayoral election on November 27, 2005 after the merger of four towns into a new district. Independent Tanaka Katsumi won the election.

She is most notable for creating the manga adaptions of Yoshiki Tanaka light novels, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, as well as illustrating the Tokuma Shoten release of Tytania, and for the yaoi series Ai no Kusabi. She won the 21st Seiun Award for best art in 1990.

Niigata 5th district is a single-member electoral district for the House of Representatives, the lower house of the National Diet of Japan. It is located in the central, Chūetsu region of Niigata and covers parts of Nagaoka City, the cities of Ojiya, Uonuma, Minami-Uonuma as well as the former Minami-Uonuma County that, as of 2012, only has one remaining municipality: Yuzawa Town. Senate elections were held in the Czech Republic on 23 and 24 September 2022 alongside municipal elections. The election were won by the Spolu alliance consisting of the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), KDU-ČSL and TOP 09 which won 20 seats. The ODS was the most successful party, winning eight seats.
