The 2006 Mississauga municipal elections took place on November 13, 2006, to elect a mayor and 11 city councillors in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. The 2006 election was noteworthy for its record number of candidates, in part due to two new wards being added to Council. The Regional Municipality of Peel is a regional municipality in the Greater Toronto Area, Southern Ontario, Canada. It consists of three municipalities to the west and northwest of the city of Toronto: the cities of Mississauga and Brampton, and the town of Caledon, each of which spans its full east–west width. The regional seat is in Brampton.
The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is the separate school board that oversees 153 Catholic school facilities throughout Peel Region and Dufferin County. It employs roughly 5,000 teachers; about 3,000 at the elementary level, and the remaining 2,000 at the secondary school and continuing education level.
The Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord manages the French-language schools in much of Northern Ontario. The area in which this school board operates covers 64,238 km2 (24,802 sq mi) of Ontario.[2]
The Conseil scolaire Viamonde (CSV) is a public-secular French first language school board, and manages elementary and secondary schools in the Ontario Peninsula and the Greater Golden Horseshoe. The school board operates 41 elementary schools and 16 secondary schools within that area. The school board operates two offices, one in Toronto, and one in Welland. The educational management office is located in the Maple Leaf neighbourhood of Toronto, whereas the business and financial management office is located in Welland.
