The 2007 Pan American Women's Handball Championship was the ninth edition of the Pan American Women's Handball Championship, which took place in Santo Domingo from 31 May to 4 June 2007. It acted as the American qualifying tournament for the 2007 World Women's Handball Championship.

In the final it would be Germany would take home their first title as a unified nation as they defeated Denmark in extra-time.

The 2009 World Women's Handball Championship took place from 5 to 20 December 2009 in China. It was the 19th edition of the World Women's Handball Championship and the second that took place outside of Europe.

The Handball Competitions at the 2007 Pan American Games took place at the Riocentro Sports Complex in a temporary facility. There are two competitions, one each for men and women, each with eight national teams competing. Brazil is the defending champion for both the men's and women's competitions.

Brazil at the 2008 Summer Olympics Sporting event delegation

Brazil sent a delegation to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, in August 2008. Brazilian athletes have competed in every Summer Olympic Games since 1920, except the 1928 Summer Olympics. The country is represented by the Brazilian Olympic Committee. Brazil headed to the Beijing Games with its largest Olympic delegation ever, 277 athletes, including a record 132 women. The 17 medals won by Brazil topped the previous medal count record set in 1996, and included the first individual and gold medals by women, by judoka Ketleyn Quadros and jumper Maurren Maggi, respectively. Three of the medals were gold, by Maggi, swimmer César Cielo and the female volleyball team.

2011 World Womens Handball Championship 2011 edition of the World Womens Handball Championship

The 2011 World Women's Handball Championship, the 20th event hosted by the International Handball Federation, was held in Brazil from 2 to 18 December 2011.

The 2009 Pan American Women's Handball Championship was the tenth edition of the Pan American Women's Handball Championship, which took place in Santiago from 23 to 27 June. It acted as the Pan American qualifying tournament for the 2009 World Women's Handball Championship.

The 2011 Pan American Women's Handball Championship was the eleventh edition of the Pan American Women's Handball Championship, held from 28 June to 2 July 2011, in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil. The tournament also served as the qualification event for the 2011 World Women's Handball Championship, with the top three teams winning the right to participate on the World Championship. However, since Pan American Championship winners Brazil already qualified as the host nation, fourth placed Uruguay was awarded the third spot, that was reserved for the zone.

Handball at the 2011 Pan Arab Games will be held in Doha, Qatar from December 10 to 21, 2011. In this tournament, 11 teams will play in the men's competition, and 4 teams will participate in the women's competition. It is yet unknown whether the Tunisian team will field a different team from the World championship squad. Kuwait withdrew from the tournament.

The 2013 Pan American Women's Handball Championship was the twelfth edition of the Pan American Women's Handball Championship, which took place in the Dominican Republic from 1 to 8 June 2013. It acted as the American qualifying tournament for the 2013 World Women's Handball Championship to be held in Serbia from December 7 to 22. It was organized by the Pan-American Team Handball Federation. This was the second time that this tournament was held in the Dominican Republic after the 2007 Pan American Women's Handball Championship.

2015 Mens Junior World Handball Championship

The 2015 IHF Men's Junior World Championship was the 20th edition of the tournament and held at Brazil from 19 July to 1 August 2015. The decision to select Brazil as the host was announced 1 August 2014. France won their first title by defeating Denmark 26–24 in the final.

The 2021 IHF World Men's Handball Championship will be the 27th event hosted by the International Handball Federation and held in Egypt from 13 to 31 January 2021.
