The 2008 Asian Women's Handball Championship was the twelvth Asian Championship, which was taking place from 21 to 30 November 2008 in Bangkok, Thailand. It acted as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2009 World Women's Handball Championship in China.

Team qualified for the 2009 World Championship |
The 1993 World Women's Handball Championship was the 11th World Championship in women's handball took place in Norway from 24 November to 5 December 1993 and was played between 16 nations. In the final it would be Germany would take home their first title as a unified nation as they defeated Denmark in extra-time.
The 1986 World Women's Handball Championship took place in the Netherlands between 4–14 December 1986.
The 1982 World Women's Handball Championship took place in Hungary between 2-12 December 1982.
The 1978 World Women's Handball Championship took place in Czechoslovakia from between 30 November-10 December 1978. East Germany won the tournament ahead of Soviet Union and Hungary.
The 1975 World Women's Handball Championship took place in the Soviet Union between 2-13 December 1975. It was the sixth edition of the World Women's Handball Championship and the first to be held in the Soviet Union.
The 2009 World Women's Handball Championship took place from 5 to 20 December 2009 in China. It was the 19th edition of the World Women's Handball Championship and the second that took place outside of Europe.
The 2010 European Women's Handball Championship was held in Denmark and Norway from 7–19 December. It was the first European Championship hosted by two countries. Norway won their overall 5th gold medal, when they defeated first time finalist Sweden in the final. Romania claimed the bronze medal.
The 2007 Asian Women's Youth Handball Championship took place in Taipei from 23 July–28 July. It acts as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2008 Women's Youth World Handball Championship in Slovakia.
The 2009 Asian Women's Junior Handball Championship took place in Bangkok from 13 August–18 August. It acts as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2010 Women's Junior World Handball Championship.
The 2008 Asian Men's Junior Handball Championship took place in Amman from 25 July – 5 August. It acts as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2009 Men's Junior World Handball Championship in Egypt.
The 2007 Asian Women's Junior Handball Championship took place in Almaty from 1 July–7 July. It acts as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2008 Women's Junior World Handball Championship.
The 2004 Asian Women's Junior Handball Championship took place in Bangkok from 1 July–8 July. It acts as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2005 Women's Junior World Handball Championship.
The 1998 Asian Women's Junior Handball Championship took place in Osaka from 31 August–4 September. It acts as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 1999 Women's Junior World Handball Championship.
The 2000 Asian Women's Junior Handball Championship took place in Dhaka from 25 July–31 July. It acts as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2001 Women's Junior World Handball Championship.
The 2012 European Women's Handball Championship was held in Serbia from 4 to 16 December. Originally the tournament was scheduled to be held in the Netherlands but on 4 June 2012 the Dutch Handball Federation withdrew from the organization. Subsequently, the European Handball Federation (EHF) launched a new bidding process and eventually selected Serbia as the new host on 18 June 2012.

The 2011 Asian Women's Junior Handball Championship took place in Almaty from September 14–20. It acts as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2012 Women's Junior World Handball Championship.
The 2015 Asian Women's Youth Handball Championship is the 6th edition of the Asian Women's Youth Handball Championship organised by Handball Federation of India under the aegis of Asian Handball Federation. The championship was held from 27 August - 3 September 2015 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi, India.
The 2017 Asian Women's Handball Championship was the 16th edition of the Asian Women's Handball Championship, which took place from 13 to 22 March 2017 in Suwon, South Korea. The tournament was held under the aegis of Asian Handball Federation. It was the second time that South Korea hosted the tournament, after the 1995 Championship. It also acted as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2017 World Women's Handball Championship.
The 2008 Women's Junior World Handball Championship was the 16th edition of the tournament and took place in Macedonia from 21 July to 3 August 2008.
