The Myanmar Premier League was the top division of Burmese football in Myanmar from 1996 to 2009. The league consisted of Yangon-based football clubs, made up mostly of clubs run by various government ministries plus a few private football clubs. Founded in 1996, the league was an attempt to reform the Burma First Division football, which consisted of all government ministry run football clubs, by allowing private football clubs. Nonetheless, the Yangon-based league never gained traction with Burmese fans, and has been replaced by the Myanmar National League, the country's first ever professional league since March 2009. Finance and Revenue was the most successful club in the history of MPL, winning a total of 9 out of 13 championships.

Nansang is a town in Namsang District of Shan State in eastern Burma. It is the seat of Nansang Township. It is the biggest city of the eastern central of the Shan State in Myanmar. It is 72 miles away from Taunggyi. A pagoda lies in the southern part of the town. It is also known as Taung Paw Pagoda.

MNL Cup Grand Royal 2009 is the inaugural knock-out club football tournament of the Myanmar National League. The tournament, held at the Aung San Stadium and the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon between 16 May and 5 July 2009, was contested by all eight clubs of the newly formed professional league. Yadanabon FC finished on top, one point ahead of Yangon United FC in group stage. On 5 July 2009, Yadanabon defeated Yangon United in the cup final on penalty shootout, to become the reigning champions of the league.

Kanbawza Bank is a private commercial bank in Myanmar. The bank was established on 1 July 1994 in Taunggyi, Shan State. KBZ Bank shares the same brand as a number of companies in Myanmar but is separate and independent of those companies. Kanbawza Group is a brand founded by Aung Ko Win to share the KBZ name across industries.

The MNL Myanmar 2013 is the Myanmar National League's fourth full regular season. The fixture schedule was released on third weeks of December 2012. The season is scheduled to begin on 5 January 2013 and end on 25 August 2013. At the end of the 2013 season, the top two teams from the MNL-2 New Holland League will be promoted to the MNL while the two bottom teams from the MNL will be relegated to the MNL-2.

The 2015 Myanmar National League is the 6th season of the Myanmar National League, the top Burmese professional league for association football clubs. The first round of the season began on 10 January 2015, with the last round ending on 31 October 2015. The Myanmar National League will be temporarily suspended for three months from 8 March to 22 June due to the 2015 Southeast Asian Games held in Singapore. The 2015 transfer window for Myanmar National League clubs will open from 19 May 2015 to 18 June 2015.

The 2015 General Aung San Shield is the first season of Myanmar knockout football competition. The tournament is organized by the Myanmar Football Federation. It is the league cup competition started in 2015 Myanmar football season. This cup succeeded the Myanmar Football Federation Cup. MFF has changed the cup competition style as follows.

Kanbawza Football Club is a Burmese football club, based in Taunggyi, Myanmar. Based out of Yangon until 2009, the club was the Myanmar Premier League champions in 2007, and participated in the AFC President's Cup 2008 tournament. Kanbawza FC was a founding member of the Myanmar National League in 2009, and represents the Shan State. It finished fourth in the league's inaugural cup competition, the Myanmar National League Cup 2009.

Shan United Football Club is a professional Burmese football club based in Taunggyi, Myanmar, representing Shan State in the Myanmar National League. It had previously competed as an amateur club under the name Kanbawza FC, based in Yangon.

The Women's League (WL) is a Myanmar professional league for women's football clubs. At the top of the Myanmar football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Contested by 8 teams. The Myanmar League is a corporation in which the 8 member teams. Since 2016 it has been sponsored by Kanbawza Bank, a Banking company based in Yangon, and are thus billed as KBZ Bank Women's League.
