A scratch race is a track cycling race in which all riders start together and the objective is simply to be first over the finish line after a certain number of laps.
The 2012 Dutch National Track Championships were the Dutch national championship for track cycling. They took place in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands from December 27 to December 30, 2012.
Apeldoorn is a municipality and city in the province of Gelderland in the centre of the Netherlands. It is a regional centre. The municipality of Apeldoorn, including villages like Beekbergen, Loenen, Ugchelen and Hoenderloo, had a population of 160,852 in 2017. The western half of the municipality lies on the Veluwe ridge, the eastern half lies in the IJssel valley.
Because of the number of entries, there were no qualification rounds for this discipline. Consequently, the event was run direct to the final. The race started at 18:00 and consisted on 40 laps, making a total of 10 km. [2]
