The Green Line Rivalry, also known as the B-Line Rivalry, the Battle of Boston and Battle of Commonwealth Avenue, is the name for the sports rivalry between Boston College and Boston University. The rivalry is named after the Green Line, a light rail line that runs along Commonwealth Avenue and links the two schools as part of the MBTA, Boston's public transit system. The two campuses lie less than five miles apart.

Leonard Stanley Ceglarski was an American ice hockey player and coach. He was an All-American left wing on Boston College's 1949 NCAA championship team, and was captain of the 1950–51 squad. He was also a member of the U.S. Olympic hockey team that won the silver medal at the 1952 Winter Olympic Games in Oslo, Norway. Ceglarski was also known as a baseball player. While at Boston College, his .429 batting average as a senior second baseman was best in New England.

The Boston College Eagles are a NCAA Division I college ice hockey program that represents Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. The team has competed in Hockey East since 1984, having previously played in the ECAC. The Eagles have won five national championships, the most recent coming in 2012. Home games have been played at Kelley Rink at Conte Forum, named in honor of long-time BC hockey coach John "Snooks" Kelley, since 1986, having previously played at McHugh Forum. The Eagles are coached by former Eagles and NHL defenseman Greg Brown, who recently took over the reins after the retirement of Jerry York.

Kelli Allison Stack is an American former ice hockey forward, who played for Kunlun Red Star in the Canadian Women's Hockey League. She is a member of the United States women's national ice hockey team. Stack competed for the Boston College Eagles women's ice hockey program and after completing her Olympic commitment, returned to Boston College for her senior year of 2010–11. She was drafted 14th overall by the Boston Blades in the 2011 CWHL Draft.

The Boston College Eagles women's ice hockey team represent Boston College in the NCAA and participate in Hockey East. The Eagles are coached by former Olympic gold medallist Katie King-Crowley and play their home games at Conte Forum. They have won the Hockey East championship three times, and made seven trips to the Frozen Four of the NCAA tournament.

Jennifer Dorothy June Wakefield is a Canadian ice hockey player and coach, currently playing in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL) with MoDo Hockey Dam. She has served as an assistant coach to the Netherlands' women's national ice hockey team and the women's representative team of Almtuna IS in the Damettan. As a member of the Canadian national ice hockey team, she was a substitute for the roster that participated in 2010 Winter Olympics and played on the gold-medal winning team at the 2014 Winter Olympics, and the silver-medal winning team at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

The Boston University Terriers women's hockey team will represent Boston University in the 2010–11 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. The Terriers are coached by Brian Durocher and they were the first team in Hockey East to qualify for the NCAA Frozen Four championship game. In addition, Catherine Ward became the first Terriers player to be recognized as an All-American selection. Ward also set a program single-season record for most assists in one season with 27.

The Boston University Terriers women's hockey team represented Boston University in the 2011–12 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. The Terriers were coached by Brian Durocher. The seniors on the Terriers squad were Kasey Boucher, Jenn Wakefield, Carly Warren and Tara Watchorn. Boston University won its second Hockey East Championship in three seasons. In addition, the Terriers qualified for their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. At season's end, BU recorded a 23–14–1 record, marking the program's second straight 20-win season. The club triumphed in seven of its final eight games of the year, while earning a fifth-place ranking.

The team is coached by Jerry York, '67, his twenty-second season behind the bench at Boston College. The Eagles play their home games at Kelley Rink on the campus of Boston College, competing in Hockey East.

The 1948–49 Boston College Eagles men's ice hockey team represented the Boston College in intercollegiate college ice hockey during the 1948–49 NCAA men's ice hockey season. The head coach was John "Snooks" Kelley and the team captain was Bernie Burke. The team won the 1949 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament. The team's leading scorer was Jack Mulhern, who finished second in the NCAA in both goals (34) and points (65)

The 2000–01 Boston College Eagles men's ice hockey season was the 79th season of play for the program. They represent Boston College in the 2000–01 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season and for the 17th season in Hockey East. The Eagles were coached by Jerry York, in his 7th season, and played their home games at the Conte Forum.
