This event was held on February 2, 2013, as a part of the 2013 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships. Just like last year, Mathieu van der Poel of Netherlands took the gold, becoming the first person ever to win the junior's event twice.
Mathieu van der Poel went into the race as the big favourite, having won every single race he competed in during the 2012–2013 cyclo-cross season. This race wasn't different, he went full power from the very start and was safe from start to finish. A fall and a flat tire were not capable of taking it away from him. The race for the second spot was equally quickly decided with Martijn Budding, also from the Netherlands, having a nice lead on those behind him. There was more competition for the third spot, showing a nice battle between Belgians Yannick Peeters and Nicolas Cleppe, the Czech Adam Ťoupalík and the American Logan Owen. Peeters disappeared from that group after a fall, Owen shared the same faith. Cleppe had trouble following Ťoupalík, who took the bronze, and also got overtaken again by Owen who was giving it his all in hopes of reaching the podium. [1]

The Cyclo-cross Superprestige is a season-long cyclo-cross competition, consisting of around 8 rounds throughout the season in Belgium and the Netherlands. It is one of three season-long competitions, alongside the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup and the X²O Badkamers Trophy.
Adri van der Poel is a retired Dutch cyclist. Van der Poel was a professional from 1981 to 2000. His biggest wins included six classics, two stages of the Tour de France and the World Cyclo-Cross Championships in 1996. He also obtained the second place and silver medal in the World Road Championships in 1983 behind Greg LeMond and five second places in the World Cyclo-Cross championships. The Grand Prix Adrie van der Poel is named after him.

The cycling rivalry between Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel is considered among the greatest and longest lasting rivalries in the sport, being contemporaries and contesting each other for the first time when they were both 8 years old.They raced each other for the first time in a major event in the 2012 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships – Men's junior race and continuously since October 2013, originally in cyclo-cross and as their ambitions grew further also in the road racing discipline. The supporters of both riders, the Belgian media and later worldwide sports journalists began comparing one another regarding track record, racing style and personality.
