The Confederación Sudamericana de Voleibol (CSV) is the continental governing body for the sports of volleyball in South America. Its headquarters is located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
24 teams competed in the 2002 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship, with two places allocated for the hosts, Germany and the titleholder, Cuba. In the qualification process for the 2002 FIVB World Championship, the Five FIVB confederations were allocated a share of the 22 remaining spots.
Yoandy Leal Hidalgo is a volleyball player who plays as a wing-spiker for Italian club Gas Sales Piacenza. Born in Cuba, he is a former member of the Cuba men's national team (2007–2010) and currently represents Brazil after gained the Brazilian citizenship in June 2015.
The 2014 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship was held in Poland from 30 August to 21 September 2014. The tournament featured 24 teams to determine the world champions in men's volleyball. In addition to the host nation Poland, 23 teams qualified for the tournament by means of continental and regional competitions. The matches took place in seven venues across seven Polish cities, with the final being held at Spodek, Katowice.

10 South American nations took part in the 2010–12 Continental Beach Volleyball Cup. In the sub-zonal round each nation was paired off with another with the winner advancing to the zonal round. In the zonal round the five nations played a round robin with the top four advancing to the continental cup final. In the continental cup final was played in a round robin format. The winner will qualify a team to the 2012 Summer Olympics while second and third advance to the final olympic qualification tournament.
