The 2017 IWBF Men's European Championship was the 23rd edition of the European Wheelchair Basketball Championship held in Tenerife, Spain from 21 June to 30 June 2017.

Squads

Each of the 12 teams selected a squad of 12 players for the tournament.

Athletes are given an eight-level-score specific to wheelchair basketball, ranging from 0.5 to 4.5. Lower scores represent a higher degree of disability [1] The sum score of all players on the court cannot exceed 14.

Wheelchair basketball is basketball played by people with varying physical disabilities that disqualify them from playing an non-disabled sport. These include spina bifida, birth defects, cerebral palsy, paralysis due to accident, amputations, and many other disabilities. The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) is the governing body for this sport. European Wheelchair Basketball Championship

The European Wheelchair Basketball Championship, is the main wheelchair basketball competition contested biennially by national teams governed by IWBF Europe, the European zone within the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation. The European Championship is also a qualifying tournament for the IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships and the Paralympic Games.

Steve Serio

Steven Serio is a wheelchair basketball player. As a co-captain of the USA Men's National Wheelchair Basketball Team, he led the American men to their first Paralympic gold medal since 1988 at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympic Games and defended the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. He currently plays for the New York Rolling Knicks in the NWBA Championship Division.

Philip Craven

Sir Philip Lee Craven is an English sports administrator, former Paralympic wheelchair basketball player, swimmer and track and field athlete. Between 2001 and 2017 he was the second president of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

Matt Scott is an American wheelchair basketball player.

Wheelchair basketball at the 2012 Summer Paralympics

Wheelchair basketball at the 2012 Summer Paralympics was held from 30 August to 8 September. Competitions were held at the newly built Basketball Arena, which seated 10,000 spectators, and The O2 Arena. Australia were the defending champions of the men's championship, while the United States were the defending champions of the women's championship.

Turkey mens national wheelchair basketball team

The Turkey Men's National Wheelchair Basketball Team is the wheelchair basketball side that represents Turkey in international competitions for men. The team is nicknamed "12 Cesur Yürek".

Özgür Gürbulak is a Turkish wheelchair basketball player and Paralympian. He is a 4 point player competing for Galatasaray Wheelchair Basketball, and is part of Turkey men's national wheelchair basketball team.

Rebecca Murray is an American former wheelchair basketball player. She is a two-time Parapan American Games gold medalist in both 2007 and 2011. In 2010, she won two more gold medals at IWBF World Championship and at U25 World Championship in 2011.

The 2013 IWBF Men's U23 World Championship was the fifth edition of the IWBF U23 World Wheelchair Basketball Championship held in Adana, Turkey from 7 to 14 September 2013. The tournament was played in two venues, the Yüreğir Serinevler Arena and the Menderes Sports Hall.

The 2013 IWBF Men's European Championship was the 21st edition of the European Wheelchair Basketball Championship held in Frankfurt, Germany from 27 June to 8 July 2013.

The Turkey Women's National Wheelchair Basketball Team is the wheelchair basketball side that represents Turkey in international competitions for women.

Spain men's national wheelchair basketball team has represented Spain at the IWBF European Championships, IWBF World Championships and at the Paralympic Games. The team won a bronze at the 2013 European Championships. They finished fifth at the 2012 Summer Paralympics, and sixth at the 1992 Summer Paralympics. Spain also has a men's national under-22 team and under-23 team. The under-23 team finished second at the 2009 Paris European Championships.

Wheelchair basketball at the 2016 Summer Paralympics will be held from 8 to 17 September at Carioca Arena 1 and the Rio Olympic Arena in Rio de Janeiro.

The 2015 IWBF Men's European Championship was the 22nd edition of the European Wheelchair Basketball Championship held in Worcester, Great Britain from 28 August to 6 September 2015.

United States mens national wheelchair basketball team

The United States men's national wheelchair basketball team began in 1955 when the Pam Am Jets brought wheelchair basketball to Europe at the International Stoke Mandville Games, albeit in the form of netball. Shortly following the Pan Am Jets' dominating performance at the International Stoke Mandville Games, wheelchair netball was switched to wheelchair basketball for all future Games.

2019 IWBF Mens European Championship

The 2019 IWBF Men's European Championship was the 24th edition of the European Wheelchair Basketball Championship held in Wałbrzych, Poland from 28 August to 9 September 2019.

The 2019 IWBF Women's European Championship was the 17th edition of the European Wheelchair Basketball Championship held in Rotterdam, Netherlands from 30 June to 7 July 2019.

The 2020 Summer Paralympics women's tournament in Tokyo began on 25 August and ended on the 4 September 2021. The matches were played at the Musashino Forest Sport Plaza and the Ariake Arena. This was the fourteenth edition of the tournament since the tournament debut at the 1968 Summer Paralympics in Tel Aviv.
