The 2018 Pan American Women's Youth Handball Championship was the 12th edition of the tournament, held in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina at the CeNARD from 10 to 14 April 2018. It acts as the American qualifying tournament for the 2018 Women's Youth World Handball Championship. [1] [2]

The Pan American Women's Youth Handball Championship was the official competition for youth women's national handball teams of Americas, and took place every two years. In addition to crowning the Pan American champions, the tournament also served as a qualifying tournament for the Youth World Championship. In 2018, the PATHF was deprived of recognition and the tournament was replaced with the IHF Trophy for North America and the Caribbean, and the South and Central American Women's Youth Handball Championship.

The Pan American Beach Handball Championship was the official competition for Men's and Women's national beach handball teams of America. In addition to crowning the Pan American champions, the tournament also served as a qualifying tournament for the Beach Handball World Championships. In 2018, the PATHF folded and the tournament was replaced with the North America & the Caribbean and South & Central American championships.

The South American Cadet Handball Championship is the official competition for Under-17 Men's and Women's national handball teams of South America. María Paula Fernández Estigarribia is a Paraguayan handball player for Club Cerro Porteño and the Paraguayan national team.

‌The 2021 South and Central American Women's Handball Championship was the second edition of the championship and held from 5 to 9 October 2021 at Asunción, Paraguay under the aegis of South and Central America Handball Confederation. It was the first time in history that the championship is organised by the Paraguay Handball Confederation. It also acted as the qualification tournament for the 2021 World Women's Handball Championship, with the top three teams qualifying.

Paraguay is scheduled to compete at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile from October 20 to November 5, 2023. This was Paraguay's 17th appearance at the Pan American Games, having competed at every edition of the games except 1959 and 1963.

The tournaments of Handball at the 2023 Pan American Games are scheduled to be held from October 21 to November 1, 2023. The venue for the competition is the Gimnasio Polideportivo located in Viña del Mar.
