The UCI Road World Championships are the annual world championships for bicycle road racing organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The UCI Road World Championships consist of events for road race and individual time trial, and as of 2019, a mixed team relay.
The men's individual time trial event at the UCI Road World Championships is the men's world championship for the road bicycle racing discipline of time trial. Introduced in 1994 by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the world's governing body of cycling, the event consists of a time trial covering a distance of approximately 45 kilometres (28 mi) over flat or rolling terrain. Riders start separated by two-minute intervals; the one that completes the course in the shortest time is the winner, and is entitled to wear the rainbow jersey in time trial events for the forthcoming season.
Tony Hans-Joachim Martin is a German former professional road bicycle racer. Martin was known as a time trial specialist, and is a four-time world champion in the discipline – having won the title in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2016 – which is joint-most with Fabian Cancellara. He also won a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, finishing runner-up to Bradley Wiggins in the event. Martin was also part of four world championship-winning team time trial squads, with Omega Pharma–Quick-Step/Etixx–Quick-Step, in 2012, 2013 and 2016, and with Germany in the mixed relay time-trial in 2021.
Luke Durbridge is an Australian road and track cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Team Jayco–AlUla. Durbridge specialises in the individual time trial, road races, and various track cycling events.
Hagens Berman Jayco is a UCI Continental cycling team based in the United States. It was founded in 2009, originally as a feeder team for Team RadioShack. Tsgabu Gebremaryam Grmay is an Ethiopian retired professional road cyclist from Tigray, who last rode for UCI WorldTeam Team Jayco–AlUla. He is a three time national road race champion, six time national time trial champion, and one time African time trial champion. Tsgabu became the first Ethiopian professional cyclist when he joined MTN–Qhubeka in 2012. In 2013 Tsgabu became the first Ethiopian to win an international cycling event when he won the fifth stage of the Tour de Taiwan. He made his UCI World Tour debut at the 2013 Giro di Lombardia.

The 2019 UCI Road World Championships was the 92nd edition of the UCI Road World Championships, the annual world championships for road bicycle racing. It took place between 22 and 29 September 2019 in the historic county of Yorkshire, United Kingdom, the fourth to be held in the United Kingdom. The championships are traditionally hosted by a single town or city but, while each event in 2019 finished in the North Yorkshire town of Harrogate, the whole historic county of Yorkshire was the official host. Heavy rainfall caused some of the events to be re-routed and delayed.
Mikkel Bjerg is a Danish cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam UAE Team Emirates. Bjerg won the under-23 individual time trial at the UCI Road World Championships in 2017, 2018 and 2019 – becoming the first rider to win multiple under-23 time trial world titles. He is the current holder of the Danish hour record. Bjerg married cyclist Emma Norsgaard in 2021.

The Men's under-23 time trial of the 2018 UCI Road World Championships was a cycling event that took place on 24 September 2018 in Innsbruck, Austria. It was the 23rd edition of the event, for which Danish rider Mikkel Bjerg was the defending champion, having won in 2017. 71 riders from 42 nations entered the competition, held over a rolling route 27.7 kilometres in length, starting from Wattens and ending in Innsbruck.
The Men's under-23 time trial of the 2017 UCI Road World Championships took place in Bergen, Norway on 18 September 2017. The course of the race was 37.2 km (23.1 mi). It was won by Mikkel Bjerg of Denmark, who finished 1' 05" faster than American rider Brandon McNulty.
