Women's Basketball Invitational

The 2021 Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI) was a single-elimination tournament consisting of eight National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I teams that were not selected to participate in the 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament or 2021 Women's National Invitation Tournament. The 2021 field was announced on March 15. The tournament was held March 19–21 at the William Exum Center on the campus of Kentucky State University in Frankfort, Kentucky. The format was an 8-team tournament with a winners and consolation bracket, guaranteeing all participating teams three games. Cleveland State beat Portland in the final.

The Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI) is a women's college basketball tournament created in 2009 by Sport Tours. The inaugural tournament occurred at the conclusion of the 2009–10 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. Selections for the WBI are announced on Selection Monday. The field for the WBI consists of a 16-team, single elimination divided into two regions with 8 seeded teams in each. Teams are picked based on NET, record, conference standings, end of year performance, and quality wins and losses.

The 2012 Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) was a single-elimination tournament of 64 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I teams that did not participate in the 2012 NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Tournament. The tournament were played entirely on campus sites. The highest ranked team in each conference that did not receive a bid to the NCAA Tournament received an automatic bid to this tournament. The remaining slots were filled by the WNIT Selection Committee. The Oklahoma State Cowgirls won their first WNIT title by the score of 75-68 over James Madison.

The 2016 field was announced Monday, March 14. All games are hosted by the higher seed throughout the tournament, unless the higher seed's arena is unavailable. First round WBI games will begin Wednesday and Thursday, March 16 and 17 while second-round games will be played Saturday, March 19 and Sunday, March 20. The tournament semifinals will be held either Wednesday or Thursday March 23 or 24 with the 2016 WBI Championship game played the final weekend of March. The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns defeated the Weber State Wildcats in double-overtime, winning the WBI for the second consecutive season.

2019 NCAA Division I Womens Basketball Tournament

The 2019 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament was a single-elimination tournament of 64 teams to determine the national champion for the 2018–19 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The 38th annual edition of the tournament began on March 22, and concluded with the championship game on April 7 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, with the University of South Florida serving as host. The tournament field was announced on March 18.

The 2022 Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI) is a single-elimination tournament consisting of eight National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I teams not selected to participate in the 2022 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament or 2022 Women's National Invitation Tournament. The 2022 field will be announced March 13, the 2022 edition of the tournament will be played on the campus of Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky at the Clive M. Beck Center. This will be the second year in a row the tournament format will be an 8-team field played over four days, with a guarantee of three games. A team does not need to be .500 in order to compete in the 2022 WBI.
