The 2022 African Women's Junior Handball Championship was held in Conakry, Guinea from 19 to 26 February 2022. [1] It also acted as qualification tournament for the 2022 Women's Junior World Handball Championship to be held in Slovenia.
The draw was held on 15 January 2022 at the CAHB headquarters in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. [2]

Team qualified for the 2022 Junior World Championship |
The 2009 World Women's Handball Championship was the 19th edition, second to take place outside Europe, of the international championship tournament in women's team sport handball that is governed by the International Handball Federation (IHF). China hosted the event from 5-20 December 2009. Russia successfully contested France in the final, their fourth title.
The 2015 IHF World Women's Handball Championship, the 22nd event hosted by the International Handball Federation, was held in Denmark. The decision to select Denmark as the host was announced on 27 January 2011.
The 2015 IHF Men's Junior World Championship was the 20th edition of the tournament and held at Brazil from 19 July to 1 August 2015. The decision to select Brazil as the host was announced 1 August 2014. France won their first title by defeating Denmark 26–24 in the final.
The 2016 African Women's Handball Championship was the 22nd edition of the African Women's Handball Championship, held in Luanda, Angola from 28 November to 7 December 2016. It acted as the African qualifying tournament for the 2017 World Women's Handball Championship.
The 2016 African Men's Handball Championship was the 22nd edition of the African Men's Handball Championship and held in Egypt from 21 to 30 January 2016. It acted as the African qualifying tournament for the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2017 World Men's Handball Championship.

The qualification for the 2020 Women's Olympic Handball Tournament assigned quota places to twelve teams: the hosts, the World champion, four continental champions and six teams from the World Olympic qualification tournaments respectively. The 2020 Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2018 African Men's Junior Handball Championship was held in Marrakesh, Morocco from 7 to 14 September 2018 at the Prince Moulay Rachid Hall. The top three teams qualified for the 2019 Men's Junior World Handball Championship.

The tournament was held under the aegis of African Handball Confederation and acted as the African qualifying tournament for the 2023 World Women's Handball Championship, with the top four teams qualifying.

The 2023 African Women's Junior Handball Championship will be held in Monastir, Tunisia from 7 to 14 September 2023. It also will act as qualification tournament for the 2024 Women's Junior World Handball Championship to be held in North Macedonia.
