The 2023 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's basketball tournament is the postseason women's basketball tournament for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference for the 2022–23 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The tournament started on March 7 and concluded on March 11 and was played at the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, for the fourth year in a row. [1] Iona won the title after beating Manhattan in the tournament final. [2] [3] The tournament winner will receive the conference's automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament.

Seeds

All 11 teams in the conference will participate in the Tournament. The top five teams will receive byes to the quarterfinals. Teams are seeded by record within the conference, with a tiebreaker system to seed teams with identical conference records.

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I. Its current 13 full members are located in five Northeastern states: Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York.

The 2020 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference for the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season, played at the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey for the first time in MAAC history. The tournament was cancelled on March 12, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Already underway at the time of the announcement, the tournament was stalled in the midst of the quarterfinals, with Siena and St. Peter's having already qualified for the semifinals. This would have given the Saints their first NCAA Tournament Bid since 2010, when they won three straight MAAC Tournaments. However, the NCAA cancelled the tournament later in the day.

The eight-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The Siena Saints were the defending champions and were unable to defend their title, losing to the Quinnipiac Bobcats on pentalties in the semifinal. The Monmouth Hawks won the title by defeating Quinnipiac 4–0 in the final. This is Monmouth's sixth overall tournament win and fifth in the last six years. The title is also the sixth for head coach Krissy Turner. As tournament champions, Monmouth earned the MAAC's automatic berth into the 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Tournament.

This was Quinnipiac's second overall tournament win and first since 2013. Both of their titles have come under head coach Eric Da Costa. As tournament champions, Quinnipiac earned the MAAC's automatic berth into the 2022 NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament.
