The 2023 Women's U25 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship was held at the Thai-Japanese Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, from 3 to 9 October 2023. It was the fourth wheelchair basketball world championship for women in the under-25 age category. Ten nations competed: Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, South Africa, Spain, Thailand and the United States. The competition was won by the United States, with Great Britain taking silver and China claiming bronze.

Competition

The 2023 Women's U25 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship was the fourth wheelchair basketball world championship for women in the under-25 age category. The event is held every four years; it was previously held in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, in 2011, in Beijing, China, in 2015, and in Suphanburi, Thailand in 2018. In 2023 it was held in Bangkok, Thailand. [1]

Ten nations competed: Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, South Africa, Spain, Thailand and the United States. The teams were divided into two pools of five A draw ceremony was conducted on the second day of the 2022 Wheelchair Basketball World Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in June 2023. The Australia, China, Great Britain, Spain and the United States were assigned to Group A, and Canada, Germany, Japan, South Africa, Thailand to Group B. The competition format called for the teams to play each team in their pool. Based on the rankings, the top eight sides then played a finals series. [2]

Venue

The tournament was originally scheduled to be held at the Indoor Huamark Stadium but structural damage caused by adverse weather conditions forced it to be relocated to the Thai-Japanese Stadium. [2]

It was the largest women's wheelchair basketball world championship in history, with 12 national teams participating. Each team selected a squad of 12 players for the tournament.

The Canada women's national wheelchair basketball team is one of Canada's most successful national sporting teams. It is the only national women's wheelchair basketball team to have won three consecutive gold medals at the Paralympic Games in 1992, 1996 and 2000, and the only one to have won four consecutive World Wheelchair Basketball Championships, in 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2006. Six nations competed: Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Great Britain and Japan. The event took the form of a Round-robin tournament, with each team playing all the other teams once. The top four teams then went into semi-finals, while the bottom two played each other for world ranking. The winners of the semi-finals faced each other in the final, while the losers played for bronze. The championship was won by Team Great Britain. Australia came second and China third.

In May 2019, she was part of the U25 National team that won silver at the 2019 Women's U25 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship in Suphanburi, Thailand.

The 2019 Women's U25 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship was held at the Suphanburi Indoor Stadium in Thailand, from 23 to 27 May 2019. It was the third wheelchair basketball world championship for women in the under-25 age category. Eight nations competed: Australia, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, Thailand, South Africa, Turkey and the United States. The event took the form of a round-robin tournament, with each team playing all the other teams once. The eight teams then went into quarter-finals, while the bottom two played each other for world ranking. The winners of the semi-finals faced each other in the final, while the losers played for bronze. The competition was won by the United States, with Australia taking silver and Great Britain claiming bronze.

The 2022 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship was held at the Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 8 to 20 June 2023. Both men's and women's tournaments will be held, with 12 women's and 16 men's teams competing, representing 20 different nations. Each team selected 12 players for the tournament. The men's competition was won by the United States, with Great Britain winning silver and Iran winning bronze. The women's competition was won by the Netherlands, with China winning silver and the United States winning bronze.
