The 2024 African Women's Handball Championship was the 26th edition of the African Women's Handball Championship, held from 27 November to 7 December 2024 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. [1] It acted as the African qualifying tournament for the 2025 World Women's Handball Championship, with the top four nations qualifying. [2]

Angola defeated Senegal in the final to win their fifth consecutive and 16th overall title. [3]

The 2010 African Women's Handball Cup Winners' Cup was the 26th edition, organized by the African Handball Confederation, under the auspices of the International Handball Federation, the handball sport governing body. The tournament was held from April 7–17, 2010, at the Palais des Sports de Ouagadougou in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, contested by 8 teams and won by Atlético Petróleos de Luanda of Angola.

The 2017 African Women's Junior Handball Championship was the 24th edition of the championship organised by the Ivory Coast Handball Federation under the auspices of the African Handball Confederation. It was held in Palais des Sports de Treichville, Abidjan from 4 to 10 September 2017. It was played in under-19 years category. It was the fifth time that Ivory Coast staged the competition. It also acts as qualification tournament for the IHF Women's Junior World Handball Championship. Top three teams i.e. Angola, Egypt and the hosts Ivory Coast qualified for the 2018 Women's Junior World Handball Championship to be held in Hungary.

The 2020 African Men's Handball Championship was the 24th edition of the African Men's Handball Championship and was held from 16 to 26 January 2020 in Tunisia. It acted as the African qualifying tournament for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and 2021 World Men's Handball Championship in Egypt.

The qualification for the 2020 Women's Olympic Handball Tournament assigned quota places to twelve teams: the hosts, the World champion, four continental champions and six teams from the World Olympic qualification tournaments respectively. The 2020 Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2018 African Women's Handball Championship was the 23rd edition of the African Women's Handball Championship, which took place from 2 to 12 December 2018 in Brazzaville, Congo. The tournament was held under the aegis of African Handball Confederation and acted as the African qualifying tournament for the 2019 World Women's Handball Championship.

The 2021 African Women's Handball Championship was the 24th edition of the African Women's Handball Championship, which was originally scheduled to take place from 2 to 12 December 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was rescheduled to 8 to 18 June 2021 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The tournament was held under the aegis of African Handball Confederation and acted as the African qualifying tournament for the 2021 World Women's Handball Championship.

The 2023 IHF World Women's Handball Championship was the 26th edition of the championship, organised by the International Handball Federation (IHF) from 29 November to 17 December 2023 and jointly hosted by Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. It was the third time in handball history that the championship is jointly hosted, the first in Sweden, and also the first to be played in three countries.

The 2022 African Men's Handball Championship was the 25th edition of the African Men's Handball Championship, held from 11 to 18 July 2022 in Egypt. It acted as the African qualifying tournament for the 2023 World Men's Handball Championship in Poland and Sweden. Originally it was scheduled to be held in Morocco from 13 to 23 January 2022.

The tournament was held under the aegis of African Handball Confederation and acted as the African qualifying tournament for the 2023 World Women's Handball Championship, with the top four teams qualifying.

The handball tournaments at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France were held from 25 July to 11 August 2024. Preliminary pool matches occurred at South Paris Arena 6, with the final phase staged at Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille. The format remained the same since 2000 for the men and 2008 for the women, as twelve teams in two groups battle each other in the round robin, followed by the knockout matches for the top eight starting with the quarterfinals and ending with the final and bronze match.

The 2023 African Women's Junior Handball Championship was held in Monastir, Tunisia from 7 to 14 September 2023. It also acted as qualification tournament for the 2024 Women's Junior World Handball Championship to be held in North Macedonia.

The 2024 African Men's Handball Championship was the 26th edition of the African Men's Handball Championship, held from 17 to 27 January 2024 in Egypt. It acted as the African qualifying tournament for the 2025 World Men's Handball Championship, with the top five nations qualifying. It also acted as the African qualifying tournament for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, with the champions qualifying.

The 2024 Men's African Club Cup Winners Championship is the 40th edition of the African Handball Cup Winners' Cup, organized by the African Handball Confederation, under the auspices of the International Handball Federation, the handball sport governing body. The tournament will be held from the 18 to 27 April 2024 in Oran, Algeria.
