30th Army (People's Republic of China)

The 30th Army was a military formation of the People's Liberation Army, active from February 1949 to early 1950.

After formation in 1949, the 30th Army initially comprised the 88th, 89th and 90th Divisions.

The 30th Army consisted of the 88th, 89th, 94th Divisions. It appears that the 30th Army did not fight in the Korean War as a unit though, as its Divisions were assigned to augment the 20th, 26th, and 27th Armies. [1] [2]

The army was disestablished seemingly on January 30, 1950. [3]

The 158th Division was created in November 1948 under the Regulation of the Redesignations of All Organizations and Units of the Army, issued by Central Military Commission on November 1, 1948, basing on 4th Independent Division of Jichareliao Military Region. The division's history could be traced back to November 1947. Under the command of 45th Corps it took part in the Chinese civil war, including the Liaoshen Campaign, Pingjin Campaign and Hengbao Campaign.

Independent Division of Shanxi Provincial Military District (1st Formation) was formed in July 1966 from the Public Security Contingent of Shanxi province. The division was composed of six regiments.

Independent Division of Henan Provincial Military District(Chinese: 河南省军区独立师)(1st Formation) was formed on June 20, 1966, from eight independent battalions from military sub-districts of Henan province. The division was composed of three regiments.
