The 94th Division (lang-zh:第94师)was a military formation of the People's Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China. It was created on February under the Regulation of the Redesignations of All Organizations and Units of the Army, issued by Central Military Commission on November 1, 1948, [1] basing on the 6th New-formed Division, Jiaodong Column, Huadong Military District. Its history can be traced to the Independent Regiments of the Nanhai, Beihai and Xihai Military Sub-district of the Huadong Military District. Under the command of 32nd Corps it took part in battles during the Chinese civil war. In January 1949 the division was attached to the 31st Corps and liberated the Dongshan island with 91st Division. The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) is the armed forces of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and its founding and ruling political party, the Communist Party of China (CPC). The PLA consists of five professional service branches: the Ground Force, Navy, Air Force, Rocket Force, and the Strategic Support Force. Units around the country are assigned to one of five Theater commands by geographical location. The PLA is the world's largest military force and constitutes the second largest defence budget in the world. It is one of the fastest modernising military powers in the world and has been termed as a potential military superpower, with significant regional defense and rising global power projection capabilities. China is also the third largest arms exporter in the world.

The Battle of Dongshan Island was a battle fought between the Nationalists and the Communists during the last days of the Chinese Civil War over the control of the Eastern Mountain Island at the southern tip of Fujian, China. It resulted in the Communists taking the island from the nationalists.

In October 1950 the 32nd Corps was disbanded, and the division was transferred to the 27th Corps. [2]

In Korea

As a part of People's Volunteer Army (Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) or Chinese Communist Forces (CCF)), the division took part in the Korean War with a standard strength of approximately 10,000 men. It was a component of the 30th Army which had each of its divisions re-allocated as reinforcements to the 20th, 26th and the 27th Armies. The 94th Division was attached to the 27th Army. [3]

The (Chinese) People's Volunteer Army was the armed expatriate volunteer forces deployed by the People's Republic of China during the War to Resist the United States and aid North Korea. Although all units in the Chinese People's Volunteer Army were actually transferred from the People's Liberation Army under orders of Mao Zedong, the People's Volunteer Army was separately constituted in order to prevent an official war with the United States. The People's Volunteer Army entered Korea on October 19, 1950, and completely withdrew by October 1958. The nominal commander and political commissar of the PVA was Peng Dehuai before the ceasefire agreement in 1953, although both Chen Geng and Deng Hua served as acting commander and commissar after April 1952 due to Peng's illness. The initial units in the PVA included 38th, 39th, 40th, 42nd, 50th, 66th Corp totaling 250,000 men, and eventually about 3 million Chinese civilian and military personnel served in Korea by July 1953.

The Korean War was a war between North Korea and South Korea. The war began on 25 June 1950 when North Korea invaded South Korea following a series of clashes along the border.

The 30th Army was a military formation of the People's Liberation Army, active from February 1949 to early 1950.

Disbandment

The division was disbanded in February 1951, its personnel transferred to the other divisions of the 27th Corps as replacements.

Still, the 281st Regiment from the division converted to Special Troops Regiment, 27th Corps, then Artillery Regiment, 27th Corps.

The 213th Army Division was created in February 1962 in Shenyang Military Region. It was a mountain infantry unit operating in Paektu Mountain region.
