Thakur is known as the father of the naach folk theatre tradition. He is also credited as the first person to cast male actors in female roles.

Kunal Singh Yadav is an Indian actor associated with Bhojpuri cinema. Also referred to as Amitabh Bachchan of Bhojpuri Cinema because of his dominance on Bhojpuri cinema and also as Jitendra of Bhojpuri cinema because of his remarkable resemblance with the bollywood actor Jitendra, Kunal, in his four-decade long career, has acted in more than 250 movies. For his contributions to cinema, he was awarded the Rashtrakavi Dinkar Award in 2012 by Pranab Mukherjee.

Laxmi Narayan Sudhanshu (1906–1974) was an Indian writer, litterateur, poet, independent activist and political leader. He won the 1952 Bihar Legislative Assembly election from an assembly seat in Purnia. He also held the post of Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from 1962 to 1967. Sudhanshu is known for actively participating in the Quit India Movement in 1942. He was imprisoned in Bhagalpur jail by the Britishers.

Bhaiya Dooj is an Indian Bhojpuri-language film released in 1984. The film stars Rakesh Pandey and Padma Khanna in the lead roles.

Dangal is a 1977 Indian Bhojpuri-language film produced by Bachubhai Shah, directed by Rati Kumar, and written by Rajpati Rahi. Starring Sujit Kumar and Prema Narayan in the lead roles, it is the first Color film made in Bhojpuri. The song Kashi Hile Patna Hile Kalatta Hilela was Chartbuster. The music of the film was composed by Nadeem–Shravan.
