Bhojpuri cinema, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Bhojpuri language widely spoken in the state of Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar with major production centres in Lucknow and Patna. The first Bhojpuri talkie film, Ganga Maiyya Tohe Piyari Chadhaibo, was released in 1963 by Vishwanath Shahabadi. The 1980s saw the release of many notable as well as run-of-the-mill Bhojpuri films like Bitia Bhail Sayan, Chandwa ke take Chakor, Hamar Bhauji, Ganga Kinare Mora Gaon and Sampoorna Tirth Yatra.

She has also appeared in Hindi, Bengali, Odia, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu language films. She participated as a contestant of reality series Bigg Boss 10 in 2016. She is best known for portraying Mohana Rathod in Star Plus's supernatural drama series, Nazar.

Padma Khanna is an Indian actress, dancer and director. She appeared mainly in Hindi and Bhojpuri films in the 1970s and 1980s. She is most remembered for her role in the film Saudagar with Amitabh Bachchan and also as Queen Kaikeyi in Ramanand Sagar's epic series Ramayan (1987–88). She has appeared in two Telugu films with N. T. Rama Rao, in Desoddarakulu and Rajaputra Rahasyam. She also acted in Odia movie Sakshi Gopinath(1978)

Chandrani Mukherjee is a former Bollywood playback singer, she is a sister-in-law of Bappi Lahiri from West Bengal and a Filmfare nominee.

Chandrani began her career in Bollywood with the film Aag Aur Toofan in 1975. Thereafter she sang in a couple of films until her swan song in Aaj Kie Aurat (1993). She was nominated for the Filmfare Best Female Playback Award thrice though she never won it.


Sujit Kumar was an Indian actor and producer. He appeared in over 150 Hindi films in the 1960s through the 1990s, and in at least 20 Bhojpuri films. Sujit played the major lead actor in many films in Bhojpuri cinema whereas in Hindi films he played pivotal roles either as a villain or as a character actor. One of his most memorable screen appearances was of a friend playing the mouth organ while driving a jeep as Rajesh Khanna courted Sharmila Tagore in the 1969 film Aradhana. Beginning in the late 1980s through the 2000s, Sujit primarily worked as a film producer.

Rakesh Pandey is an Indian actor in Hindi and Bhojpuri films. He has appeared in TV serials such as Chotti Bahu and Dehleez. He is an alumnus of the Indian Film and Television Institute, Pune.

Bhojpuri Channel is a TV Channel owned by the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation, which is the national state broadcaster. Launched in January 2013. the TV cannel broadcasts programs in Bhojpuri language including Cookery Shows, Pre-recorded radio show, Bhojpuri telefilms and more for the Mauritian Population.

Shubhi Sharma is an Indian actress who is active mainly in Bhojpuri-language films. She is known for her role in Chalni Ke Chaalal Dulha opposite Pravesh Lal Yadav, for which she received the award for Best Female Debut of the Year at the 5th Bhojpuri Film Awards.

Shivani Gosain is an Indian television actress, who appeared in Mythological Serials like Jai Ganga Maiya As Devi Uma, Jai Mahalakshmi as Devi Saraswati & various other serials like Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Rang Badalti Odhani, Love U Zindagi and Piya Ka Ghar Pyaara Lage. Moreover, she has also appeared in episodics of Ssshhhh...Phir Koi Hai.

Dishum TV is an Indian, Bhojpuri general entertainment free to air (FTA) television channel owned and operated by Dishum Broadcasting Pvt Ltd. An entertainment company based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, the channel airs content intended for people of all ages ranging from drama, daily soap, films, devotional songs, mythological shows, music, and shows featuring Bollywood celebrities.

Zee Ganga is a Bhojpuri general entertainment channel. It was launched by Reliance Broadcast Network Limited (RBNL) as Big Ganga in 2013 but later acquired by ZEEL and they rebranded it as Zee Ganga in 2021. It is the only Bhojpuri channel on DD Free Dish which delivers original content for their viewers.
