Last updated

Prior to the amendment of Tamil Nadu Entertainments Tax Act 1939 on 27 September 2011, gross was 115 per cent of Nett for films with non-Tamil titles. Post-amendment, gross jumped to 130 per cent of net for films with non-Tamil titles and U certificates as well. [1] Commercial Taxes Department disclosed ₹59.43 crore in entertainment tax revenue for the year. [2]

After assisting Hindi directors Rajkumar Santoshi and working under Balu Mahendra, he made his directorial debut with Kattradhu Thamizh (2007), which fetched him strong critical acclaim. His second film Thanga Meengal (2013) also won critical praise and three National Film Awards. He released his next film Taramani in August 2017 which was critically acclaimed and a box-office hit. His fourth film Peranbu starring Mammootty was premiered at International Film Festival Rotterdam in January 2018, which was also critically acclaimed.

Mankatha is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by Dayanidhi Azhagiri's Cloud Nine Movies. The film stars an ensemble cast of Ajith Kumar, Lakshmi Rai, Anjali, Arjun Sarja, Trisha Krishnan, Andrea Jeremiah, Ashwin Kakumanu, Vaibhav Reddy, Premji Amaren, Mahat Raghavendra, Jayaprakash, Aravind Akash and Subbu Panchu. It is the fiftieth film of Ajith as a lead actor and the third and penultimate film of the production studio. The film follows Vinayak, a corrupt ACP in Mumbai, who joins a gang of four who plans on a heist of cricket betting money.

Vettai (transl. Hunt) is a 2012 Indian Tamil-language action comedy film co-produced, written and directed by N. Linguswamy. The film stars Arya and R. Madhavan in the lead roles, while Sameera Reddy, Amala Paul, Ashutosh Rana, Nassar and Thambi Ramaiah appear in supporting roles. The music was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, and cinematography and editing handled by Nirav Shah and Anthony.

Studio Green is an Indian film production and distribution company based in Chennai. The company was founded in 2006 by K. E. Gnanavel Raja, relative of actor Sivakumar and many of their films feature his sons Suriya and Karthi. They have produced several Tamil films and also distributed films across India.

Uyarthiru 420 is a 2011 Tamil language action drama film directed by S. Premnath The film stars lyricist Snehan, Vaseegaran, and Meghana Raj in the lead roles, while Akshara Gowda, Aishwarya Rajesh, and Akshaya play supporting roles. It revolves around "an ordinary man who aspires to become rich by adopting wrong ways, like hugging women by taking advantage of them and fondling their hip folds under the pretext of seeing them as sisters". It was released on 12 August 2011. The music was composed by Mani Sharma with cinematography by D. Shankar. The film was shot in Bangalore. It was released on 12 August 2011.

Moondru Per Moondru Kadal is a 2013 Indian Tamil-language romance film co-edited, co-written and directed by Vasanth. It stars Arjun, Cheran, Vimal, Surveen Chawla, Muktha and Lasini. It marks Tamil debuts of Chawla and Lasini. The film features music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Cinematography and editing were handled by Bhojan K. Dinesh and S. N. Fazil respectively. The film was released on 1 May 2013.

Harish Kalyan is an Indian actor who primarily works in Tamil Cinema. He made his acting debut in 2010 with the film Sindhu Samaveli and gained recognition for his roles in Poriyaalan (2014), Vil Ambu (2016), Pyaar Prema Kaadhal (2018) and Parking (2023). He has won the Edison Awards three times, in the years 2017, 2021 and 2022.
