Cloud Nine Movies was an Indian film production and distribution company, based in Chennai. It is owned by Dayanidhi Azhagiri and Vivek Rathinavel and was founded in 2008 until 2014. [1] He founded another new production company in 2013, Meeka Entertainment.
The company first distributed the Gautham Vasudev Menon-directed Vaaranam Aayiram in 2008, which was a critical as well as commercial success. Next they produced the parody film Thamizh Padam , which became a box-office hit, too, [2] following which Paiyaa was distributed. The N. Linguswamy-directed romantic-action film, starring Karthi, also went to become highly successful at the box office, emerging one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of that year. Subsequently, their next film was the action-drama film Thoonga Nagaram starring Vimal and Anjali becoming their first production. Simultaneously, they first produced Venkat Prabhu directorial's next film, which stars Ajith Kumar as part of an ensemble cast, [3] but later sold the movie to Studio Green for a whopping[ vague ] price. Later, there was news that they sold the movie to Sun Pictures, and satellite signal also sold to Sun Pictures. But its official now that Cloud Nine Movies and Sun Pictures are presenting it.

Prashanth Thiagarajan, known professionally as Prashanth, is an Indian actor and businessman, known for his works predominantly in Tamil cinema. Besides Tamil films, he has also appeared in few Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam films. At the peak of his career in the late 1990s, Prashanth was one of the popular actors in South India. He has won a Kalaimamani Award from the Government of Tamil Nadu. The son of actor-director Thiagarajan, Prashanth began his career at 17 by appearing in Vaigasi Poranthachu (1990) and went on to feature in other films including Balu Mahendra's Vanna Vanna Pookkal (1992), R. K. Selvamani's Chembaruthi (1992), K. Rushendra Reddy's Tholi Muddhu (1993), and Mani Ratnam's action-comedy Thiruda Thiruda (1993). Prashanth rose to stardom with Shankar's romantic comedy Jeans (1998) in which he played a dual role alongside Aishwarya Rai. The success of this film saw him garner opportunities to work in bigger film projects and in the late 1990s, he featured in a series of breakthrough films such as Kannedhirey Thondrinal (1998), Kaadhal Kavithai (1998), Jodi (1999), Parthen Rasithen (2000) and Piriyadha Varam Vendum (2001).
Ajith Kumar is an Indian actor who works predominantly in Tamil cinema. To date, he has starred in over 60 films, and his awards include four Vijay Awards, three Cinema Express Awards, three Filmfare Awards South and three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. In addition to his acting, Ajith is also a sports car racer and participated in the MRF Racing series (2010). It was released on 14 January 2006 to widespread negative reviews and had an above average run at the box-office. The film was a complete remake of the Hindi-language film Kartoos (1999) starring Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff and Manisha Koirala.

Thoonga Nagaram is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film written and directed by debutant Gaurav Narayanan, starring himself along with Vimal, Bharani, Nishanth, and Anjali. The film, produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri's Cloud Nine Movies, was shot entirely in Madurai, the city where the story takes place and which the title refers to. It was released on 4 February 2011 to relatively positive reviews and excellent box office collection. The film was dubbed in Telugu under the title Naluguru Snehithula Katha.
Mankatha is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language action crime film written and directed by Venkat Prabhu. It stars Ajith Kumar in his 50th film, along with an ensemble cast including Arjun Sarja, Trisha Krishnan, Lakshmi Rai, Anjali, Andrea Jeremiah, Vaibhav Reddy, Premji Amaren, and Mahat Raghavendra. It was produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri's Cloud Nine Movies while Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the musical score and soundtrack, with Sakthi Saravanan working as the cinematographer and the duo Praveen K. L. and N. B. Srikanth as editors. The story, set in Mumbai, revolves around a heist of cricket betting money, executed by a gang of four thieves, who are joined by a fifth unknown man, and its aftermath.

Studio Green is an Indian film production and distribution company based in Chennai. The company was founded in 2006 by K. E. Gnanavel Raja, relative of actor Sivakumar and many of their films feature his sons Suriya and Karthi. They have produced several Tamil films and also distributed films across South India.
