Tulu cinema, also known as Coastalwood, is a part of Indian cinema. The Tulu film industry produces five to seven films annually. The first Tulu film was Enna Thangadi released in 1971. Earlier, these films were released in theatres across the Tulu Nadu region. Tulu film industry has grown to such an extent that films are being released simultaneously in Mangalore, Udupi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Middle East. It has successfully completed 470 days at PVR Cinemas in Mangalore.

Chaali Polilu is produced under the banner of Jayakirana films by Prakash Pandeshwar. The film has shared valuable messages to society. It reflects upon social evils in society and while providing an ample amount of entertainment to the audience. It is the highest grossing Tulu film of all time.

Padil, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, Gopinath Bhat and Aravind Bolar feature in supporting roles. The film successfully completes 100 days in Mangalore and Udupi. The film was produced by Sharmila Kapikad and Sachin Sunder.

<i>Girgit</i> 2019 Indian comedy film

Girgit is a 2019 Indian Tulu-language comedy drama film produced by Shoolin Films and Manjunath Attavar. The film was theatrically released in India on 23 August 2019. It stars Roopesh Shetty, Shilpa Shetty, Roshan Shetty, Naveen D Padil, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, Aravind Bolar, Sandeep Shetty, Prasanna Shetty and Umesh Mijar. The story of the film was written by Roopesh Shetty, and jointly directed by Roopesh Shetty and Rakesh Kadri and became the highest grossing Tulu film of all time.

Pruthvi Ambaar is an Indian actor who works in Kannada and Tulu films. He started his career as a radio jockey. His performance in the Kannada film Dia (2020) gained him recognition.

Magane Mahisha is a 2022 Indian Tulu language film written and directed by Veerendra Shetty Kavoor. The cast of the movie includes Devadas Kapikad, Jyothi Rai, Naveen D Padil, Arvind Bolar and Bhojaraj Vamnjoor in lead roles. Magane Mahisha has been produced by Veerendra Shetty Kavoor under the banner of Veeru Talkies. The movie was released on 29 April 2022. The music of the film is released worldwide by Movietone Digital Entertainment Pvt Ltd under its flagship music label “OnClick Music” in Tulu & Kannada language both.
