This is an inclusive list of the most expensive Indian films, with budgets given in Indian rupees and US dollars. The list contains only films already released to the general public and not films that are still in production or post-production, as costs can change during the production process. Listed below is the costs of the actual filming, not including promotional costs (i.e. advertisements, commercials, posters, etc.) and after accounting for tax subsidies.
The charts are ordered by budgets that have been independently audited or officially acknowledged by the production companies where they are known; most production companies will not give a statement on the actual production costs, so often only estimates by professionals and movie industry writers are available. Where budget estimates conflict, the productions are charted by lower-bound estimates.
Only productions with a budget of more than ₹200 crore in nominal Indian rupees are listed here. Due to the effects of inflation, all the films on the chart have been produced in the 21st century.

Uppalapati Venkata Suryanarayana Prabhas Raju, known mononymously as Prabhas, is an Indian actor who predominantly works in Telugu cinema. He is one of the highest-paid actors in Indian cinema and has been featured in Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list since 2015. Referred to in the media as the "Rebel Star", he has appeared in over 20 films, and has received seven Filmfare Awards nominations, a Nandi Award, and a SIIMA Award.
Indian actor Rajinikanth has appeared predominantly in Tamil cinema. He began his film career by playing antagonistic and supporting roles before graduating to a lead actor. After starring in numerous commercially successful films throughout the 1980s and 1990s, he has continued to hold a matinée idol status in the popular culture of Tamil Nadu. Writing for Slate, Grady Hendrix called him the "biggest movie star you've probably never heard of." Rajinikanth has also worked in other Indian film industries such as Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is a 2017 Indian epic action film directed by S. S. Rajamouli, who co-wrote the script with V. Vijayendra Prasad. It was produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni under the banner Arka Media Works. The film was filmed in both Telugu and Tamil languages. The cast includes Prabhas in a dual role, alongside Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj, Nassar and Subbaraju. Serving as the final installment of duology and both a sequel and a prequel to Baahubali: The Beginning, the film is set in medieval India and centers on the rivalry between siblings Amarendra Baahubali and Bhallaladeva. Bhallaladeva conspires against Amarendra, leading to his death at the hands of Kattappa. Years later, Amarendra's son seeks to avenge his father's demise.
2.0 is a 2018 Indian Tamil-language 3D science-fantasy action film directed by S. Shankar who co-wrote the film with B. Jeyamohan and Madhan Karky. Produced by Subaskaran under the banner of Lyca Productions. As the second instalment in the Enthiran film series, 2.0 is a standalone sequel to Enthiran (2010), featuring Rajinikanth in a triple role as Vaseegaran, Chitti the Robot and Kutti, alongside Akshay Kumar as Pakshi Rajan and Amy Jackson as Nila, Sudhanshu Pandey, Adil Hussain, Kalabhavan Shajohn, and K. Ganesh appear in supporting roles. The soundtrack is composed by A. R. Rahman, with lyrics written by Madhan Karky and Na. Muthukumar. The film follows the conflict between Chitti, the once dismantled humanoid robot, and Pakshi Rajan, a vengeful avian human, who seeks vengeance upon cell phone users to prevent the death of birds due to cellphone radiation.
1000 Crore Club is an unofficial designation by the Indian film trade and the media, related to Indian language films that have grossed ₹1000 crore or more either within India or worldwide. The 1000 crore club is preceded by the 100 crore club. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) became the first Indian film to gross over ₹1000 crore worldwide. It grossed ₹1,430 crore across all languages in India and grossed ₹1,850 crore worldwide. It stands as the highest-grossing film in India till date. It was followed by Dangal, which is the highest-grossing Indian film, expanding the club to 1900 crore, before creating the ₹2,000 crore (US$240 million) club, and becoming the fifth highest-grossing non-English language film of all time. In 2022, two films released in the span of a month, RRR and KGF: Chapter 2, grossed over ₹1,000 crore at the global box office. The club expanded with Pathaan (2023), Jawan (2023) and Kalki 2898 AD (2024).
Saaho is a 2019 Indian action thriller film directed by Sujeeth and produced by UV Creations and T-Series. It was filmed simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi, stars Prabhas in the title role, alongside Shraddha Kapoor, Chunky Pandey, Jackie Shroff, Arun Vijay and Neil Nitin Mukesh. The film marks Prabhas's Hindi cinema debut and Shraddha Kapoor's Telugu cinema debut. The film revolves around two undercover officers, searching for a mastermind responsible for stealing ₹2,000 crore. They soon realise that the case is linked to the death of a prominent business tycoon and an emerging gang war for the control of a megalopolis.
Radhe Shyam is a 2022 Indian period romantic drama film written and directed by Radha Krishna Kumar. Produced by UV Creations and T-Series, the film was shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi languages and stars Prabhas and Pooja Hegde with an ensemble supporting cast. Set in 1970s Italy, the film revolves around a young palmist named Vikramaditya, who is conflicted between his destiny and his love for Dr. Prerana.
Kalki 2898 AD is a 2024 Indian Telugu-language epic science fiction film directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani. Inspired by Hindu mythology, it is the first instalment in a planned Kalki Cinematic Universe. Set in a post-apocalyptic world in the year 2898 AD, the film follows a select group who are on a mission to save lab subject SUM-80's unborn child, Kalki.
Jailer is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language action comedy film directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures. The film stars Rajinikanth in the lead role, alongside Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah Bhatia, Vasanth Ravi, Mirnaa Menon, Yogi Babu and Sunil in supporting roles. Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Jackie Shroff play guest appearances. It revolves around "Tiger" Muthuvel Pandian, a retired jailer, seeking to apprehend an eccentric idol smuggler Varman.
Prabhas is an Indian actor who predominantly works in Telugu cinema. He made his acting debut with the 2002 Telugu action drama Eeswar and attained his breakthrough with the action romance Varsham (2004) for which he received his first nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu. In 2005, he appeared in S. S. Rajamouli's action drama Chatrapathi, in which he portrayed the role of a refugee, exploited by goons. It earned him his second nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu.

While India's international film footprint is primarily associated with Hindi-speaking Bollywood, Kalki 2898 AD is shot primarily in Telugu and will release simultaneously in five languages.
The Telugu-language film directed by Nag Ashwin stars Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone. It was also released in several dubbed language versions including Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam.
