Upendra Rao is an Indian actor, film director, film producer, screenwriter, playback singer, lyricist and politician who worked primarily in Kannada films. He has also worked in a few Telugu films. In 2017, He joined the political party Karnataka Pragnyavanta Janata Paksha, before quitting the party in 2018 due to internal differences and formed another party named Uttama Prajaakeeya Party (UPP), which was based on the principles of Prajakiya. He received an Honorary Doctorate from Angkor University in 2015.
Sampath Kumar, known by his stage name Vishnuvardhan, was an Indian actor who worked predominantly in Kannada cinema besides also having sporadically appeared in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam language films. Vishnuvardhan has a prolific career spanning over four decades, during which he has acted in more than 220 films. A popular cultural icon of Karnataka, and holds the status of a matinée idol among the Kannada diaspora. He is popularly called as Sahasa Simha, Dada and The Angry Young Man of Kannada Cinema. Vishnuvardhan's contributions to Kannada cinema have been praised by his contemporaries in the Indian film industry. The Government of Karnataka honoured him with the Rajyothsava Prashasthi in 1990 and the Dr. Rajkumar Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 for his contributions to Kannada cinema. He was called The Phoenix of Indian Cinema. In 2008, a poll conducted by CNN-IBN listed Vishnuvardhan as the most popular star in the Kannada film industry.

Super is a 2010 Indian Kannada-language political drama film written and directed by Upendra. The film was released on 3 December 2010 in its Kannada version, and on 11 March 2011 in its Telugu version, which had a few scenes reshot with Ali and Sadhu Kokila switching roles. This utopian film had a concept of a contrasting futuristic India set in the year 2030, and the contemporary image of India.

Ala Modalaindi is a 2011 Indian Telugu-language romantic comedy film written and directed by B. V. Nandini Reddy under the Sri Ranjith Movies banner. It stars Nani, Nithya Menen and Sneha Ullal with the music composed by Kalyani Malik. The film's cinematography is performed by Arjun Jena with editing by Marthand K. Venkatesh.
Toss is a 2017 Indian Kannada romantic comedy film written, directed and co-produced by Dayal Padmanabhan. The film stars Vijay Raghavendra, Sandeep and Ramya Barna in the lead roles. The film, under the banner of D Pictures and Om productions, was launched by Puneeth Rajkumar on 27 January 2012. After being in development for more than 5 years, the film is set to release on 21 July 2017.
Rambo is a 2012 Indian Kannada-language comedy thriller film written and directed by M S Sreenath. It was produced by Atlanta Nagendra and Sharan. Sharan and Madhuri Itagi played the leading roles. This is the 100th film of actor Sharan; it was released in September 2012. Arjun Janya is the music director for the film.
Sakkare is a 2013 Indian Kannada-language romantic drama film written and directed by Abhaya Simha, which stars Ganesh and Deepa Sannidhi in the lead roles. The major portions of the film have been shot in Madikeri, Bangalore, Mysore and other places.
Director's Special is a 2013 Indian Kannada-language satire film written and directed by Guruprasad. It stars a debutant Dhananjay along with Rangayana Raghu. Actress Pooja Gandhi made a special appearance in an item song The storyline of the movie was also found in two more Kannada movies—Dasavala and Karodpathi. It was also reported that the concept of all these films could be traced back to the 1996 Spanish film Familia in which a lonely rich man hires actors to act as his family members on his birthday.
Maanikya is a 2014 Indian Kannada-language action drama film directed by Sudeepa. The film, a remake of 2013 Telugu film Mirchi, stars Sudeepa and V. Ravichandran, alongside Ranya Rao, Ramya Krishna, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and P. Ravi Shankar. The music was composed by Arjun Janya, while cinematography and editing were handled by Shekhar Chandra and N. M. Vishwa.
