B. Suresha is an Indian film director, producer, screenwriter, and actor who works in Kannada-language films. He is known for directing the films Artha (2003) and Puttakkana Highway (2011).

Career

B. Suresha made his debut as a child actor with Ghatashraddha (1977) before working with Shankar Nag as an assistant director on several ventures including Accident (1985) and Malgudi Days (1986). [1] He worked as a script writer notably collaborating with Ravichandran in 1993. [1] He also worked as a television serial director and worked on Hosa Hejje (1991), [2] Sadhane on Doordarshan and Naaku Thanthi. [1] He made his directorial debut with Tapori [3] and went on to work on several films including Puttakkana Highway (2011). [4] [5] In 2008, he returned to acting with Slum Bala. [6] In 2016, his film Devara Naadalli based on a Times of India article released. [7] That same year, he announced the launch of a new entertainment channel called Rangoli. [8] 2017 saw the release of Uppina Kagada , which was about the journey of a young girl searching for her father. [9] As an actor, he has worked on K.G.F: Chapter 1 (2018) and Ananthu vs Nusrath (2018). [1] Outside of films, he has also written books. [10]

Personal life

He married Shylaja Nag in 1992; he had previously worked with her during the play Macbeth in 1988. [1] They manage a production studio named Media House. [1] The studio has produced several films namely Naanu Nanna Kanasu (2010), [11] Sakkare (2013), and Yajamana (2019). [12] [13]

Puttakkana Highway is a 2011 Indian Kannada drama film starring Shruti and Prakash Raj in the lead roles. The film was directed by B. Suresha. Prakash Rai and Shylaja Nag jointly produced this venture under Duet Movies and Media House banner. Hamsalekha composed the music and H. M. Ramachandra was the cameraman. The story is based on the novel Puttakkana Medical College by acclaimed writer and filmmaker Nagathihalli Chandrashekar.

B. Vijaya Reddy, better known as Vijay Reddy or Vijay, was an Indian film director who worked primarily in Kannada cinema with over 50 movies to his credit. His debut directorial venture was Rangamahal Rahasya (1970). He was known for his collaborations with leading Kannada actor Rajkumar for movies like Gandhada Gudi (1973), Mayura (1975), Naa Ninna Mareyalare (1976) and Sanaadi Appanna (1977) which are considered among the classic movies of Kannada cinema.

Dorai–Bhagavan were an Indian filmmaking duo consisting of directors B. Dorai Raj and S. K. Bhagavan, active mainly in Kannada cinema. Suresha, inspired by an article that appeared on The Times of India in 1998, of an incident that occurred in a town in coastal Karnataka. It features an ensemble cast of Prakash Raj, Achyuth Kumar, Mandya Ramesh and Sihi Kahi Chandru. The film has received critical reviews from Japanese audience and lot of accolades as the film had Japanese subtitles which was the joint work of Sirish Chandrashekar and Ryozo Araki. This was nominated for South Indian film festival in Tokyo for the year 2016.

Anant Nag is an Indian actor and occasional film producer who appears as an actor in predominantly in Kannada films and a few Hindi and Telugu films. In a career spanning over 5 decades, he has appeared in over 270 films. After having had a successful theatre career, he made his debut in P. V. Nanjaraja Urs' Kannada film Sankalpa, and Shyam Benegal's Dakhani film Ankur, with the former seeing theatrical release first, in 1973, and won multiple awards at the 1972–73 Karnataka State Film Awards. In G. V. KGF: Chapter 1 is a 2018 Indian Kannada-language period action film written and directed by Prashanth Neel, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner of Hombale Films. It is the first installment in the KGF series, followed by KGF: Chapter 2. The film features an ensemble cast including Yash, Ramachandra Raju, Srinidhi Shetty, Vasishta N. Starting his singing career from the film Krishnan Marriage Story in 2011, Santhosh Venky recorded for many film songs and won Karnataka State Film Awards and Filmfare Awards South for his singing.

Ananthu vs Nusrath is a 2018 Indian Kannada-language romantic comedy film written and directed by Sudheer Shanbhogue. Produced under the banner Manikya Productions, the film tells the love story between a lawyer and a judge. The film stars Vinay Rajkumar as Ananthu, a lawyer and Latha Hegde, a judge in the titular roles. The supporting cast includes P. Ravishankar, Guruprasad, Suchendra Prasad, B. Suresha, Naveen D. Padil among others. The film's score and soundtrack is composed by Sunaad Gowtham and cinematography is by Abhishek G. Kasargod.

It stars Darshan, Rashmika Mandanna and Tanya Hope in lead roles. It also features an ensemble cast of Thakur Anoop Singh, Devaraj, P. Ravi Shankar, Dhananjay in key supporting roles. The film's background score and soundtrack is also composed by V. Harikrishna.

Uppina Kagada is a 2017 Indian Kannada-language drama film directed by B. Suresha and starring T. S. Nagabharana and Apoorva Bharadwaj.
