Thayavva is a 1997 Kannada-language film directed by V. Umakanth, starring Sudeep, Umashree, Charan Raj and Sindhu. The background score and soundtrack were composed by V. Manohar, with lyrics by V. Manohar and Geethapriya. [1] This was Sudeep's first film to release after his two previous films were abandoned midway. [2] The film was a box office failure. [3]
Sudeep who went on to become a famous star in the Kannada film industry, he made his acting debut with this film. This was the last film produced by A. L. Abbaiah Naidu before his death. [4]
The music was composed by V. Manohar and released by Lahari Music.

Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. The 1934 film Sati Sulochana directed by Y. V. Rao was the first talkie film in the Kannada language. It was also the first film starring Subbaiah Naidu and Tripuramba, and was the first motion picture screened in the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom. The film was produced by Chamanlal Doongaji, who in 1932 founded South India Movietone in Bangalore.
