S. Narayan (born 5 June 1962) [1] is an Indian filmmaker, director, actor and lyricist of Kannada films. [2] [3] After Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, Narayan is the second director to direct Dr. Rajkumar and all his three sons. [4] He has given many hits with Dr. Vishnuvardhan and also worked with many actors of Sandalwood. He has also directed the Tamil movie Jai .

After assisting H. R. Bharghava, Raj Kishore and A. T. Raghu, Narayan made his directorial debut with the romantic drama Chaitrada Premanjali (1992), with newcomers. The film, which featured a successful soundtrack by Hamsalekha became a musical hit at the box office. He then went on to direct similar themed romantic films such as Anuragada Alegalu (1992), Megha Maale (1994), and also successful family dramas like Thavarina Thottilu and Bevu Bella. Throughout the 2000s, he directed mostly remakes, such as Surya Vamsha , Simhadriya Simha , and Cheluvina Chittara . In 2015, he directed Daksha , starring Duniya Vijay, which was completely shot in single takes. [5] In 2016, he was supposed to direct a project called JD, starring Jagadish Gowda and Dictator with Huccha Venkat; both got shelved after launch. [6] [7] He directed Na Panta Kano and Manasu Mallige , a remake of the Marathi film Sairat .

Manasu Mallige is an Indian Kannada-language romantic drama film directed by S. Narayan and produced by Rockline Venkatesh and Akash Chawla. The film, a remake of Nagraj Manjule's Marathi film Sairat (2016), features Rinku Rajguru, reprising her role from the original, and Nishanth (Nataraj). The original soundtrack by Ajay–Atul has been re-used with Kannada lyrics, and the cinematography is by Manohar Joshi.

Daksha is a 2015 Indian Kannada-language action thriller film directed and produced by S. Narayan. It stars Duniya Vijay in the titular role, alongside Pankaj Narayan, Neha Patil, Raghav Uday, Suchendra Prasad, Shobaraj, Rangayana Raghu and Bullet Prakash in supporting roles.
