Old Monk [1] is a 2022 Indian Kannada-language romantic comedy film written and directed by M. G. Srinivas. [2] The film features MG Srinivas, Aditi Prabhudeva [3] [4] in lead role. The film's title was inspired from the popular alcohol beverage brand, but it also means "Hale Sanyasi" in Kannada. [5] Veteran actor Rajesh, made a special cameo appearance in the film. [6] The film was released on February 25, 2022 simultaneously in the Kannada and Telugu languages. [7]

Contents

Critics praised the direction, comedy, writing, dialogue and performance of the film. [8] [9] Music Director duo Saurabh and Vaibhav collaborate a second time with Srini after Birbal, and are one of the producers of the movie. [10]

Premise

Narada is cursed and banished to earth by Lord Krishna after he creates a quarrel between Krishna and Rukmini. The only way he can redeem himself is by marrying someone he loves on the earth. Now, Narada, christened as Appanna, is born into a family that only believes in arranged marriage and he has no chance of finding love with his father playing the villain. When he does find an interest, there are many hurdles.

All songs were composed by Saurabh Vaibhav, and released under the label of Anand Audio. [11] In "Old is Goldu", a song penned and sung by Gubbi, a tribute was paid to famous cult movies, through a photoshopped poster. [12]

Release

The film's release was postponed several times due the COVID-19 pandemic.

Director Srini announced the new release date for the film based on the government's decisions on post-pandamic occupation, and to avoid the release dates of other films. [13] The film was released on 25 February 2022 simultaneously in the Kannada and Telugu languages. [7]

B. Vijaya Reddy, better known as Vijay Reddy or Vijay, was an Indian film director who worked primarily in Kannada cinema with over 50 movies to his credit. Mooroovare Vajragalu is a 1973 Indian Kannada-language film, directed by Y. R. Swamy. The film stars Rajkumar, Srinath, Jayanthi, Aarathi and Manjula. Rajkumar played a dual role in the movie. The film was Rajkumar's last full-fledged movie in black-and-white - thus also making it his last dual role in a black and white movie. Doorada Betta, which released in the same year, was in black and white too, but had a few sequences in Eastmancolor. The movie was dubbed in Telugu in 1976 as Narada Vinodham.

Dooradarshana is a 2023 Indian Kannada-language film written and directed by Sukesh Shetty, and produced by Rajesh Bhat. The film stars Pruthvi Ambaar, Ayaana, Sundar, Veena and Harini Shreekanth, with a music score by Vasuki Vaibhav.
