Siby Varghese better known by his stage name Kailash, [1] is an Indian actor who works in the Malayalam Cinema. He has acted in more than 50 films. Known for his appearance as the lead in Lal Jose's remake film Neelathamara , he starred in the last installment of T. V. Chandran's trilogy Bhoomiyude Avakashikal , which was premiered at the 43rd International Film Festival of India [2] and IFFK. [3]

Career

His debut film was Parthan Kanda Paralokam in which he appeared in a supporting role. He also played the lead role in Malayalam film Neelathaamara (2009) by Lal Jose. [4] He acted in notable roles in the films Shikkar, The Hunt , Banking Hours 10 to 4 , 10:30 am Local Call and Thank You . [5]

Bhoomiyude Avakashikal by T. V. Chandran, a movie in which Kailash played the lead role, [6] was screened at several international film festivals. He was met with wide acclaim for his sensitive and nuanced performance. [7]

T. V. Chandran is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and actor, predominantly working in Malayalam cinema. Born in a Malayali family in Telicherry, Chandran worked as a Reserve Bank of India employee before entering the film industry. He started his film career as an assistant director to P. A. Backer. He also acted the lead role in Backer's highly acclaimed political drama Kabani Nadi Chuvannappol (1975). He made his directorial debut with the unreleased feature Krishnan Kutty (1981), and followed this with the Tamil film Hemavin Kadhalargal (1985). Chandran came into prominence after Alicinte Anveshanam (1989), which was nominated for the Golden Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival. This was followed with Ponthan Mada (1993), his most famous film to date. Chandran is most known for his art-house films which have references to history and undertones of politics and feminism. He is also known for his trilogy on 2002 Gujarat riots, consisting of Kathavasheshan (2004), Vilapangalkappuram (2008) and Bhoomiyude Avakashikal (2012). Other highly acclaimed films include Mangamma (1997), Dany (2001) and Paadam Onnu: Oru Vilapam (2003).

<i>Kadhavaseshan</i> 2004 Indian film

Kadhavaseshan is a 2004 Malayalam mystery drama film written and directed by T. V. Chandran, starring Dileep and Jyothirmayi in the lead roles. Veteran Bengali actress Gita Dey made a special appearance. It was the first movie in the 2002 Gujarat Riots trilogy by the director, the second one being Vilapangalkkappuram and the third and final one being Bhoomiyude Avakashikal. The narratives of all these films begin on the same day, 28 February 2002, the day after the Godhra train burning in Gujarat. The film was released on November 11 on the Eve of Diwali.

Shutter is a 2012 Indian Malayalam thriller film written and directed by theater actor and playwright Joy Mathew in his directorial debut. The film set and filmed in Kozhikode, stars Lal, Sreenivasan, Vinay Forrt, Sajitha Madathil and Riya Saira. Renganaath Ravee does the sound design, and Hari Nair is the cinematographer. The film notably features a poem by Pablo Neruda, set to music and sung by Shahabaz Aman. Biby Sam and Jacob Panikker composed the background score for the film.

Bhoomiyude Avakashikal is a 2012 Indian Malayalam-language film written and directed by T. V. Chandran based on the novel of the same name by Vaikom Muhammad Basheer. The film stars Kailash in the lead role along with Sreenivasan and Mythili who play pivotal supporting roles. The film was produced by Anand Kumar under the banner of Yes Cinema and it was mainly shot in Nelliyampathi, Ottappalam and Shoranur in Kerala.
