Sunil Kumar, known by his stage name Narain, is an Indian actor, who has starred in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu films. He made his debut in Adoor Gopalakrishnan's Nizhalkuthu (2002), followed by performances in Malayalam films 4 the People (2004), Achuvinte Amma (2005), and Classmates (2006). Narain's Tamil and Telugu debuts were in Mysskin's Chithiram Pesuthadi (2006) and Jayaraj's Yuvasena (2004).

Acting career

Narain's first film was Nizhalkuthu . His first commercial film, 4 The People , was dubbed in Tamil and Telugu. He portrayed a struggling lawyer, Emmanuel John, in Achuvinte Amma and also played a doctor, Jeevan, in Sheelabathi . He also played roles in Annorikal and Classmates . His debut Tamil movie was Chithiram Pesuthadi . Through Panthaya Kozhi , produced by director Lal, he has been re-launched as an independent action hero in the Malayalam film industry. In 2008, he did another youth-oriented Malayalam movie Minnaminnikoottam . He has acted in more than 20 Malayalam movies. [1]

Narain worked with director Sathyan Anthikkad in the 2005 movie Achuvinte Amma and again in 2009 in Bhagyadevatha .

Narain played the lead role in P. T. Kunju Muhammed's Veeraputhran (2011). He collaborated with director Mysskin on the 2008 film Anjaathe and the 2012 superhero film Mugamoodi where he portrayed a villain. However his career high came through the 2019, Lokesh Kanagaraj directed venture Kaithi (2019), co starring with Karthi . [2] In 2022, Vikram who bridges two films occurring in the same universe starring Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, and Fahadh Faasil. [3]

Early and personal life

Narain completed his pre-degree from St. Thomas College, Thrissur and graduated from Sree Kerala Varma College. He did his diploma in cinematography at the MGR Government Film And Television Institute. He joined ace cinematographer Rajiv Menon and later resigned to try for chances in acting. On 26 August 2007, he married Malayalam television host Manju Haridas. Manju had hosted shows like Superstar Junior and sang in Chithiram Pesuthadi , a Tamil film in which Narain acted. [4] [5] The couple has two children, a daughter born in 2008 and a son born in 2022.

Chithiram Pesuthadi is a 2006 Indian Tamil-language romantic action drama film written and directed by Mysskin in his directorial debut. The film stars Narain and Bhavana, both making their debuts in Tamil cinema industry. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by Sundar C Babu with cinematography by Mahesh Muthuswami and editing by M. Kasi Viswanathan. Produced by Dreambridge Productions on a budget of 1.20 crores, the film faced publicity issues but later released in Chennai and the rest of Tamil Nadu. The movie became a massive hit of that year. The film was later remade in Telugu as Raju Bhai, and in Kannada as Kiccha Huccha.

The music is composed by Ilaiyaraaja. It was also a comeback movie for Urvashi in Malayalam after a gap of six years. The film has won several awards, including the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress (Urvashi), Filmfare Award for Best Film - Malayalam, and Filmfare Award for Best Actress - Malayalam for Meera Jasmine.

<i>Anjathe</i> 2008 film directed by Mysskin

Anjathe is a 2008 Indian Tamil-language action film written and directed by Mysskin and produced by V. Hitesh Jhabak. The film stars Narain, Prasanna, Ajmal Ameer, and Vijayalakshmi. The film opened to rave reviews for its technical expertise, avant-garde filmmaking, and for the performance of actor Prasanna. The film became a "blockbuster" at the box office. The composition of frames, selection of shots and its counter meaning in narration made Anjathe a perfect example of Tamil New Wave cinema. The film was remade in Kannada as Anjadiru (2009).

The film stars Jiiva, Narain, Pooja Hegde, Nassar, Selva and Girish Karnad. The music was composed by Krishna Kumar with cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan and editing by Gaugin.

Raju Bhai is a 2007 Indian Telugu-language drama film directed by Surya Kiran, starring Manoj Manchu and Sheela Kaur, with Kadhal Dhandapani, Tanikella Bharani and Brahmanandam in supporting roles. Vikram K. Kumar is an Indian film director and screenwriter who works in Telugu and Tamil cinema. Sundar C Babu composes music for Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu films in India. He is the son of an eminent Veena Vidhwan Dr.Chitti Babu and Sudakshina Devi and his brothers are Rangasai and Radhakrishnan. Under his father's guidance, Babu began his film composing in the year 2006 for the Malayalam film Chacko Randaaman. However, he shot to fame with his Tamil debut in Chithiram Pesuthadi in the same year. The song "Vaala Meenukkum" became hugely popular among the masses and since then he has been composing for various films. His popularity in Telugu films began through the film Shambo Shiva Shambo. He studied in an Alpha school.

Kalaiyarasan Harikrishnan is an Indian actor, who works in the Tamil film industry along with few Malayalam films. He has collaborated with directors Mysskin and Pa. Ranjith, with whom he worked in Madras (2014) for which he received acclaim for his performance.

Selva is an Indian actor who has worked on Tamil-language films in leading and supporting roles. After appearing in several films as a lead actor in the 1990s, he made a comeback in two films directed by Mysskin in the 2010s.

Prabhu under Dream Warrior Pictures and co-produced by Tiruppur Vivek under Vivekananda Pictures. It stars Karthi in the lead role, along with Narain, Arjun Das, Harish Uthaman, George Maryan, and Dheena in pivotal roles. In the film, a recently released prisoner races against time to drive poisoned cops to a hospital in exchange for meeting his daughter while evading criminals chasing him.

The Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), also known as the Loki Cinematic Universe or Lokiverse, is an Indian media franchise and shared universe of Tamil-language action thriller films created by Lokesh Kanagaraj. It is currently the highest grossing Tamil film franchise.
