Krithi Shetty (born 21 September 2003) [1] is an Indian actress who predominantly works in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi films. She made her debut with the commercially successful film Uppena (2021). She established herself as one of the leading actresses in Telugu cinema. [2]

Early life

Krithi Shetty was born on 21 September 2003 in Mumbai, [3] to a Tuluva family [4] hailing from Mangalore, Karnataka. [5] [6] Her father is a businessman, and her mother is a fashion designer. [3] [7]

She was brought up in Mumbai as of February 2021. [8] [9] During her academic career, she worked in commercials. [6]

Career

Following a brief appearance in the Hindi film Super 30, [10] Shetty made her debut in a lead role, aged 17, with the Telugu film Uppena [11] directed by Buchi Babu Sana and produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings. The film was commercially successful at the box office, collecting over 100 crore (US$13 million). [12] Reviewing her performance, The Times of India 's Neeshitha Nyayapati wrote: "The debutants Vaisshnav and Krithi manage to pull off the intricacies of their characters well for the most part. [13]

In 2021, she appeared in the Telugu film Shyam Singha Roy opposite Nani. [14] In 2022, she appeared opposite Ram Pothineni in the bilingual film The Warriorr directed by N. Lingusamy. [15] Shetty only shot her portions in Telugu. [16] The film received negative reviews from critics and was a huge commercial failure. [17] Her next release in the same year was the Telugu film Macherla Niyojakavargam , directed by M. S. Rajashekhar Reddy. [18]

As of 2022, she had appeared in Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali directed by Mohana Krishna Indraganti and co-starring Sudheer Babu. [19] [20] She made her Tamil-language debut with Venkat Prabhu's bilingual Custody (2023) starring Naga Chaitanya. [21]

Uppena is a 2021 Indian Telugu-language romantic drama film written and directed by debutant Buchi Babu Sana. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings, it stars debutants Panja Vaisshnav Tej and Krithi Shetty alongside Vijay Sethupathi in a prominent role. Set in Kakinada, the plot follows fisherman Aasi, who falls in love with Bebamma. Her father Raayanam is an influential zamindar, who fiercely protects his daughter to safeguard his family's honour.

Allu–Konidela family is a prominent Indian film family known for their work in Telugu cinema. At least 3 generations of the family are involved in films, business ventures, and politics. Prominent heads of the family are comic actor Allu Ramalingaiah and his son-in-law, actor-politician Chiranjeevi.

Uppena is the soundtrack album composed by Devi Sri Prasad for the 2021 Indian Telugu-language film of the same name starring Panja Vaisshnav Tej and Krithi Shetty in lead roles, directed by Bucchi Babu Sana. The album consists of eight songs with Sri Mani, Devi Sri Prasad, Chandrabose and Raqueeb Alam penning the lyrics. On 17 February 2021, the soundtrack album was released digitally on the Aditya Music label. "Nee Kannu Neeli Samudram" and "Jala Jala Jalapaatham Nuvvu" are the biggest hits of the album. After a brief setback, Devi Sri Prasad reclaimed success through the album.

Ranga Ranga Vaibhavanga is a 2022 Indian Telugu-language romantic drama film written and directed by Gireeshaaya. The film is produced by B. V. S. N. Prasad under the banner Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra. The film featured Panja Vaisshnav Tej and Ketika Sharma in lead roles with the music composed by Devi Sri Prasad. The film opened to negative reviews criticizing the lackluster and cliche story. The film ended up a box-office failure, the second in a row for Vaisshnav Tej.
