Sai Dhanshika (born 20 November 1989) is an Indian actress who predominantly appears in Tamil cinema, alongside roles in Kannada and Telugu films. She made her acting debut with the Tamil film Thirudi (2006) [1] and gained recognition for her performances in Peranmai (2009) and Aravaan (2012). Her portrayal of Vanapechi in the period drama Paradesi (2013) earned her the Filmfare Award South for Best Supporting Actress, [2] and she won the same award for her role as Yogi in the Rajinikanth-starrer Kabali (2016). She starred in several films including Peranmai (2009), [4] Maanja Velu (2010) [5] and Nil Gavani Sellathey (2010). [6] Regarding her role in Nil Gavani Sellathey, a reviewer stated that "Among the relatively fresh cast, only Dhansika (Maanja Velu, Peraanmai) makes an impression". On August 29, 2025, Tamil actors Vishal and Sai Dhanshika officially announced their engagement in a private ceremony held at Vishal's residence in Anna Nagar, Chennai [27] [28] [29] . The intimate event was attended by close family and friends, and the couple shared the joyous news through social media, expressing their gratitude and excitement [30] [28] [29] .
The engagement coincided with Vishal's 48th birthday, adding a special significance to the occasion [31] [32] . Previously, the couple had announced their wedding plans for the same date during the promotional event of Sai Dhanshika's film Yogi Da [30] [29] . However, they decided to proceed with the engagement first, with the wedding now expected to take place in early September 2025 [27] .
Vishal shared a heartfelt message on social media, thanking fans for their birthday wishes and blessings, and expressing his happiness about the engagement [30] [31] . He stated, "Thank you all you darlings from every nook and corner of this universe for wishing and blessing me on my special birthday. Happy to share the good news of my engagement that happened today with @SaiDhanshika ... ." [30] [29] [33]
The couple's relationship, which began as a friendship 15 years ago, has evolved into a romantic partnership [34] [35] . They publicly acknowledged their relationship in May 2025 at the press conference of Yogi Da, where they shared their journey from friendship to love [27] [36] .
