Jane Baker (mayor) Mayor of San Mateo, California

Jane Elaine Baker was an American politician, community organizer and former cooking show host. Baker served on the city council of San Mateo, California for twenty years. She was appointed the Mayor of San Mateo on six occasions, becoming San Mateo's first female mayor.

San Mateo, California City in California, United States

San Mateo is a city in San Mateo County, California, approximately 20 miles (32 km) south of San Francisco, and 31 miles (50 km) northwest of San Jose. San Mateo had an estimated 2017 population of 104,748.

Leslie Brooks American actress

Leslie Brooks was an American film actress, model and dancer.

Khalid Aziz was a Pakistani cricket umpire. He stood in three Test matches between 1978 and 1992 and seven ODI games between 1977 and 1993.

Itamar Franco Brazilian politician

Itamar Augusto Cautiero Franco was a Brazilian politician who served as the 33rd President of Brazil from December 29, 1992 to December 31, 1994. Previously he was Vice President of Brazil from 1990 until the resignation of President Fernando Collor de Mello. During his long political career Franco also served as Senator, Mayor, Ambassador and Governor. At the time of his death he was a Senator from Minas Gerais, having won the seat in the 2010 election.

President of Brazil Head of state and head of government of Brazil

The President of Brazil, officially the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil or simply the President of the Republic, is both the head of state and the head of government of Brazil. The president leads the executive branch of the federal government and is the commander-in-chief of the Brazilian Armed Forces. The presidential system was established in 1889, upon the proclamation of the republic in a military coup d'état against Emperor Pedro II. Since then, Brazil has had six constitutions, three dictatorships, and three democratic periods. During the democratic periods, voting has always been compulsory. The Constitution of Brazil, along with several constitutional amendments, establishes the requirements, powers, and responsibilities of the president, their term of office and the method of election.

Iain Blair was a Scottish actor and author who, using the pen name Emma Blair wrote a series of romantic novels.

Martin Crowe was an Australian athlete. He competed in the men's hammer throw at the 1956 Summer Olympics.

Francis King British novelist, writer and poet

Francis Henry King was a British novelist, poet and short story writer. He worked for the British Council for 15 years, with positions in Europe and Japan. For 25 years he was a chief book reviewer for the Sunday Telegraph, and for 10 years its theatre critic.

Wallachia Historical and geographical region of Romania

Wallachia or Walachia is a historical and geographical region of Romania. It is situated north of the Lower Danube and south of the Southern Carpathians. Wallachia is traditionally divided into two sections, Muntenia and Oltenia. Wallachia as a whole is sometimes referred to as Muntenia through identification with the larger of the two traditional sections.

John Wesley Covington was an American professional baseball left fielder, who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1956 through 1966 for the Milwaukee Braves, Chicago White Sox, Kansas City Athletics, Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs, and Los Angeles Dodgers. He stood 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m), weighing 205 pounds. Covington batted left-handed and threw right-handed.

The history of the Athletics Major League Baseball franchise spans the period from 1901 to the present day, having begun as a charter member franchise in the new American League in Philadelphia before moving to Kansas City in 1955 for 13 seasons and then to its current home on the San Francisco Bay in Oakland, California, in 1968.

Jaap Blokker Dutch businessman

Jacob "Jaap" Blokker was a Dutch businessman and executive.

Cornelius Aaron "Neil" Dougherty was an American basketball coach, most recently the head coach at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. Dougherty played basketball at West Point for two years under coach Mike Krzyzewski before transferring to Cameron University, where he played his final two years and earned his degree in 1984.

Malcolm Forsyth Composer and trombonist

Malcolm Forsyth, was a South African and Canadian trombonist and composer. His daughter is former National Arts Centre Orchestra principal cellist Amanda Forsyth.
