Sergei Antonov was a Bulgarian airline representative accused of involvement in an assassination attempt against Pope John Paul II by Mehmet Ali Ağca in 1981.

Mehmet Ali Ağca is a Turkish assassin and Grey Wolves member who murdered left-wing journalist Abdi İpekçi on 1 February 1979, and later shot and wounded Pope John Paul II on 13 May 1981, after escaping from a Turkish prison. After serving 19 years of imprisonment in Italy where he was visited by the Pope, he was deported to Turkey, where he served a ten-year sentence. He was released on 18 January 2010. Ağca has described himself as a mercenary with no political orientation, although he is known to have been a member of the Turkish ultra-nationalist Grey Wolves organization and the state-sponsored Counter-Guerrilla.

Ryan Cox South African racing cyclist

Ryan Cox was a South African professional road racing cyclist. He had been cycling since 1987 and turned professional in 2000. He first joined Amore e Vita but changed, the following year to Team Cologne which was based in Germany. He had been a member of Team Barloworld since 2003. In 2004 and 2005 he won the South African National Road Race Championships.

Kafeel Ahmed Islamic terrorist

Kafeel Ahmed was one of two Islamic terrorists behind the 2007 London car bombs plot and the 2007 Glasgow Airport attack. He died of injuries sustained in the latter attack.

Haitham Sabah Shaker Mohammed al-Badri was a commander of Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) in Salahuddin Province who reportedly masterminded the 2006 al-Askari Mosque bombing which substantially damaged the Shiite mosque and set off a wave of retaliatory violence by the Shiites against other Moslems. He was a former Iraqi government official under Saddam Hussein and following the US-led invasion, was a member of al Qaeda. Badri was killed in a US airstrike east of Samarra on August 2, 2007.

Saladin Governorate Governorate in Tikrit, Iraq

The Saladin or Salah ad Din Governorate is a governorate in Iraq, north of Baghdad. The governorate has an area of 24,363 square kilometres (9,407 sq mi). The estimated population in 2003 was 1,042,200 people. The capital is Tikrit; the governorate also contains the significantly larger city of Samarra. Before 1976 the governorate was part of Baghdad Governorate.

José Miguel Battle Sr. American mobster

Jose Miguel Battle Sr. was a former policeman and Cuban exile who served in the unsuccesful Bay of Pigs Invasion to overthrow the communist Cuban regime in 1961. He later became the nominal leader and founder of "The Corporation," also known as the "Cuban Mafia," and he invested in the gambling industry in the United States and Peru. He was convicted of racketeering and imprisoned for 20 years by the U.S. government.

Ronald Duncan McLaren Brown was a Scottish Labour Party Member of Parliament (MP) in the United Kingdom for the Edinburgh Leith constituency, from the 1979 general election to the 1992 general election. Brown was suspended from the House of Commons on several occasions. In a 1988 incident he damaged the Mace.

<i>Charles in Charge</i> US sitcom TV series

Charles in Charge is an American sitcom starring Scott Baio. It aired for a total of 126 episodes over five seasons. The series was a production of Al Burton Productions and Scholastic Productions in association with Universal Television.

Lee Hazlewood American singer, songwriter, record producer

Barton Lee Hazlewood was an American country and pop singer, songwriter, and record producer, most widely known for his work with guitarist Duane Eddy during the late 1950s and singer Nancy Sinatra in the 1960s.

Raul Hilberg Austrian-born American political scientist and historian

Raul Hilberg was an Austrian-born Jewish-American political scientist and historian. He was widely considered to be the world's preeminent scholar of the Holocaust, and his three-volume, 1,273-page magnum opus, The Destruction of the European Jews, is regarded as a seminal study of the Nazi Final Solution.

Duncan William Clark, MD was an American public health expert and preventive medicine specialist. He is best known for advocating the addition of fluoride to the New York City's water supply to prevent tooth decay.

Stanley Myron Handelman American comedian

Stanley Myron Handelman was an American stand-up comedian who, during a ten-year period between 1965 and 1975, appeared on numerous television variety shows.
