Mohammad Sarwar Mir is an Indian actor, who has appeared in Hindi films including Kesari , Bajrangi Bhaijaan , and Jolly LLB 2 .

Career

Born in a Kashmiri family, [1] Sarwar started his career with renowned directors M. K. Raina and Bapi Bose in Delhi. He was part of three National School of Drama workshops. He moved to Mumbai permanently in late 2014, before being cast in two high-profile films, Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) and Phantom (2015). In the former, he played the father of the lost Pakistani girl Shahida, who is guided by Salman Khan's character back to Pakistan. [2]

Sarwar also worked on the production of Kashmir Daily , a self-financed Kashmiri film venture. He is involved in making Kashmiri films and contributes to the industry's projects without charging a fee in order to encourage film making among local residents. [3] [4] Mir has recently Directed a Film BED NO.17 in Srinagar and the film will be screened in several film festivals. [5] In 2017, Sarwar worked on the production of Mani Ratnam's Tamil film Kaatru Veliyidai (2017) and shot for the film in Hyderabad and Ladakh. [6] [7] He successfully auditioned for the film, with date clashes meaning he opted out of his role in Naam Shabana (2017) for the opportunity. [8]

Kedarnath was released on 7 December 2018. In 2019 he appeared in the films Kesari, Notebook and Hamid. [9] After Kesari, Panipat, Chanakya, Jai Hind, Pawan Putra and some web series like The Family Man, Bard of Blood, Bhram and Special Ops released. [10]

Sarwar played the protagonist in Half Widow, [11] Kashmir Daily, [4] and Lihaaf. [1] He played the negative lead in Dharma Productions' Kesari (2019). [12] Recently Sarwar wrote and directed the prayer song "Ya Khuda" in the COVID-19 lockdown, which had most of the veteran actors on J&K. [13]

<i>Kaatru Veliyidai</i> (soundtrack) 2017 soundtrack album by A. R. Rahman

Kaatru Veliyidai is the soundtrack album, composed by A. R. Rahman, to the 2017 Indian Tamil romance film of the same name, written and directed by Mani Ratnam starring Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari. The soundtrack album consists of six tracks each, in the original Tamil, and in the Telugu version of the album. Four of the tracks for the original version were penned by Vairamuthu, one by his son Madhan Karky, and one by Shellee. The lyrics to the Telugu version were written by Sirivennela Sitaramasastri. The album won Rahman the National Film Award for Best Music Direction in the "Songs" category at the 65th National Film Awards. The choreography for the songs were done by Brinda and the cinematography for the film by Ravi Varman.

<i>Kashmir Daily</i> 2017 film

Kashmir Daily is a Hindi-language social drama film produced and directed by Kashmiri filmmaker Hussein Khan under the banner of his own production house Seven Two Creations in Association with Safdar Arts. The film was first screened at SKICC Srinagar in March 2017. The film was released on 5 January 2018 and was shown in several cities of India in PVR Cinemas. It is the 1st Film from Kashmir which will be released throughout India.

The Mirchi Music Award for Upcoming Male Vocalist of The Year, is given yearly by Radio Mirchi as a part of its annual Mirchi Music Awards for Hindi films.

<i>Half Widow</i> 2017 Indian film

Half Widow is a 2017 Indian drama film directed by debutant Danish Renzu and written by Renzu and Gaya Bhola. The film tells the story of a woman from Srinagar in Kashmir, who tries to find her husband who is abducted by the Indian army. Jointly produced by Bhola and Renzu, the film stars Neelofar Hamid, Shahnawaz Bhat, Mir Sarwar and Haseena Sofi. Because there are no theaters in Kashmir, the film was screened at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre. The title of the film refers to the namesake term used for Kashmiri women whose husbands have disappeared mostly in custody of security forces in the Kashmir conflict. The film's official trailer was released in May 2017. The characters in the film talk in Urdu, with some Kashmiri. The film received a favourable review on Cineblitz. The film was released theatrically on 6 January 2020 in India.

Aalayam Productions was an Indian film production and distribution company headed by S. Sriram. The firm had been a leading production studio in the Tamil film industry in the 1990s, with director Mani Ratnam also being a partner.

Eka Lakhani is an Indian fashion costume designer, who has worked in the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu film industries. After beginning her career as an intern on the sets of Raavan (2010), she has become director Mani Ratnam's costume designer for his films since 2013. She has also worked in projects by directors Rajkumar Hirani, Karan Johar and Gautham Menon.
