Mahendra Kapoor was an Indian playback singer. In a long career spanning decades, his repertoire included popular songs such as Chalo ekbaar phir se Ajnabi ban jayen hum dono (Gumrah) and Neele Gagan ke tale (Hamraaz). His name however became most closely associated with patriotic songs including Mere Desh Ki Dharti in Manoj Kumar's film Upkaar. He considered Mohammad Rafi as his Guru. In 1972, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India. He lent his voice to actor Manoj Kumar in most of his films and had a lengthy association with director-producer Baldev Raj Chopra.

His 19 films, with him as antagonist and Rajesh Khanna in the lead role remain popular with audiences and critics. He has 3 children, and 7 grandchildren.

Gulshan Kumar Mehta, popularly known by his pen name Gulshan Bawra, was an Indian songwriter and actor in Hindi cinema. In a career spanning 42 years, he has to his credit about 240 songs, he collaborated with noted music directors like Kalyanji Anandji, Shankar Jaikishan, and R. D. Burman. He composed almost half of the songs in films like Khel Khel Mein (1975), Kasme Vaade (1978) and Satte Pe Satta (1982). Apart from R. D. Burman hits, he is most remembered for his songs like 'Mere Desh Ki Dharti" in Upkaar (1968) and "Yaari Hai Imaan Mera" in Zanjeer (1974), both of which got him the Filmfare Best Lyricist Award. The latter also topped the Binaca Geetmala annual list of 1973. As a character actor, he also appeared in a small number of Hindi films.

Malik Anokha was a Pakistani film, television, stage and radio actor from Mirpur Khas, Sindh.

Sundri Uttamchandani was a noted Indian writer. She wrote mostly in Sindhi language. She was married to progressive writer A. J. Uttam.

Naeem Sayyed, known professionally as Junior Mehmood, was an Indian actor, singer, Marathi film director, and producer. The name Junior Mehmood was given to him by Mehmood Ali.

Fayyaz Hashmi was a Pakistani poet and screenwriter who worked both in the Indian and Pakistani film industry. He penned some memorable songs such as the famous nazm Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo and Tasveer teri dil mera behela nah sakegi. The latter made the singer Talat Mahmood famous in India back in 1944 and was instrumental in introducing him to the Calcutta film industry.

Mohan Choti was an Indian actor who worked as a comedian in Hindi films. The name Mohan Choti came from a fictional character of the same name from the 1957 film Musafir, in which he plays a tea shop delivery boy who sports a "choti" or traditional lock of hair on the top of his head.

Usha Timothy is a veteran Bollywood playback singer. Referred to as a "Singer with a difference" She began her career in the film Himalay Ki Godmein (1965). She has sung 5,000 songs in multiple Indian languages such as Hindi, Malayalam, Punjabi, Bhojpuri and Marathi etc.

Asad Bhopali was an Indian Hindustani poet and lyricist. The Encyclopaedia of Hindi Cinema, compiled by Gulzar and Saibal Chatterjee, describes him as one of the "few names that stand out for their contribution to Hindi film lyrics".

Popati Hiranandani was an Indian writer who authored more than sixty books in Sindhi language during her life. She was an essayist, fiction writer, poet, educationist, feminist and social activist. She made significant contributions to Sindhi literature before and after the partition of India. She won several awards including the Sahitya Akademi Award (1982), Woman of the Year Award (1988), and the Gaurav Puraskar (1990) among others.

Kala Prakash was an Indian novelist, short story writer, and poet of Sindhi language. She authored more than 15 books and won the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award in 1994 from the Government of India.

Bhagwanti Navani was an Indian singer and actress known for her work in Sindhi-language music and films. She was a folk as well as playback singer. Due to her melodious and sweet voice, she was popularly known as "Sindhi Koel". Her marriage songs, called "Laada" are popular in India and Pakistan. She appeared as the heroine in the film Sindhua Jay Kinaray and performed as a playback singer in eight films.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Rehman Verma</span> Pakistani music director

Rehman Verma was a Pakistani music director. He composed playback music for Lollywood's first-ever action movie, Baaghi, in 1956. He was one of the musical duo "Sharma Ji-Verma Ji" along with the Bollywood musician Khayyam before the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947.

Noor Muhammad Lashari was a stage, radio, TV and film actor from Sindh, Pakistan. He was awarded the Pride of Performance Award in 1992 by the Government of Pakistan.
