Abdullah Oğuz

Abdullah Oguz (born 17 June 1958 in Istanbul, Turkey) is a Turkish film director [1] and producer. Oguz studied at Marmara University. From 1990 to 2000 he produced and directed commercials, TV series and music videos, and later, feature films.

Bliss is a 2007 Turkish film directed by Abdullah Oğuz, and starring Özgü Namal, Talat Bulut, and Murat Han. It was chosen to open the 2007 Asian Film Festival in Mumbai and the 2007 Medfilm Festival in Rome. It won the audience prize and the young jury prize at the 2008 Turkish Film Festival in Nuremberg and won the audience award for international films at the 2008 Miami International Film Festival. Also, Mutluluk was rewarded by European Council with the Prix Odyssee Human Rights Award in 2007.

The Yeşilçam Award was the national film award of Turkey, which was presented annually by the Turkish Foundation of Cinema and Audiovisual Culture (TÜRSAK) and Beyoğlu Municipality from 2008 to 2011. The award, which had been named after Yeşilçam Street in the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul where many film studios were based during the 1950s-1970s, was discontinued following the announcement by the Alliance of Cinema Labor Unions' Yeşilçam Film Academy (YEFA) intention to start issuing their own Yeşilçam Academy Award in protest against TÜRSAK's disregard of their suggestions to give the awards a more professional structure.

The 1st Yeşilçam Awards, presented by the Turkish Foundation of Cinema and Audiovisual Culture (TÜRSAK) and Beyoğlu Municipality, honored the best Turkish films of 2007 and took place on March 24, 2008, at the Lütfi Kırdar Congress and Exhibition Hall in Istanbul, Turkey.
